Problems faced & tackled so far – Phase 3 and 4:
✓ The progress was initially slow due to financial constraints and individual house design requests from some of the families, as
well as a lack of skilled workforce
✓ Monsoon has been greatly challenging this year as the roads were washed away and has had to be reconstructed, which has
made material transportation greatly challenging
Impact summary so far:
o 24 families moving out of temporary shelters and living in safe new homes
o 16 more families soon moving into their new houses
o 36 full time jobs created in production of Earth Bricks & construction
o Skills in earthquake resistant construction skill raised in 40 families
o 108 tons of CO2 saved, compared to building with Fired Bricks (= equals to 36 flights from Sweden to Nepal and back)
Majhigaun is rising from the rubbles!
Working in a community driven approach to rebuild has been challenging but also rewarding; developing local participation, ownership and raising
the skills and income of the people. A clear effect of the project is that more families now know of the importance of earthquake resistant
construction and wanting to build their houses with Earth Bricks!
With your support we have been able to help 40 families rebuild safe new homes for themselves and their families!
Thank you!
