Maintaining an IOLTA account for real estate conveyancing requires a ’three‐way’ reconciliation for eachaccount.Athree‐wayreconciliationistheaccuratewayofreconcilinganIOLTAaccount,sothateverypennyis accounted for. Title insurance underwriters and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau require thatmonthly three‐way reconciliations are performed for each account. Proper reports for the reconciliationsmustbemaintainedforauditpurposes.Ourexperiencedpanelistswilldiscusstrustaccountingandthethree‐way reconciliation process in detail.
