AUSTRALIAN 1813 HOLEY DOLLAR

Of the 300+ Holey Dollars that are known to exist, approximately eight of those survived with the date of 1792, struck on a Mexican City Mint Eight Reales of King Charles IIII. Even though every counterstamp of an Australian Holey Dollar is dated 1813, these were actually struck in 1814.

In 1829, a final recall of all the Holey Dollars and the Dumps took place and were demonetised. Documentation shows that 27,161 'Ring Dollars' and 10,103 Dumps were deposited in the Military Chest on 24th September, 1829. A few hundred more of each were recovered in the ensuing year and a half before they were all returned to the London Mint (historians estimate the numbers at approximately 28,500 Holey Dollars and 10,500 Dumps). The coins were melted down and the silver was sold to the Bank of England.

The five shillings we have on offer features very well struck counterstamps, a clear initial "H" (William Henshall), nearly EF and the host slightly oxidised on the obverse graded VF+, including a clearly defined eye of Charles IIII.

AUSTRALIA AT WAR 50 CENTS

VIETNAM WAR, GULF WAR, AFGHANISTAN WAR 50¢ CARDED, UNC $10.00 each

As part of the 18 coin Australia at War Commemo-rative Coin Program issued by the Royal AustralianMint, the final three cupro-nickel 50¢ pieces have been issued with a mintage of 50,000 of each design dated 2016.

The Vietnam War was a protracted conflict on the battlefield, and an unpopular war at home as Australians came to terms with the realities of modern conflict, far removed from the trenches of the world wars previously experienced.

Australia has been involved with the Gulf Wars for over two decades, first in 1990-1991 and then 2003 to the present day with personnel still on deployment.

As the final coin in the series, the longest and most modern of conflicts in Australian military history, Afghanistan represents the transformation of war in the past century. Our forces sent to this war were not only involved in the 'war on terror', but also the important task of rebuilding for the future that comes post war.

AUSTRALIA 1930 PENNY

The majority of coin collectors and beginners know, that the most sought-after coin in the Australian series is the 1930 Penny.

No pennies were ordered by the Federal Treasury during the height of the depression in 1930, but the following year, a small order of around half a million coins was placed. Although not the rarest Australian numismatic item, the 1930 penny is the key coin to obtaining a full date set of Australian pre-decimal issues. The level of publicity associated with this popular coin has resulted in a demand which is continually pushing up the price, considering there is between 1500-3000 surviving examples known to exist.

Struck by the Melbourne Mint, this genuine Australian 1930 One Penny has six clear pearls showing on the obverse and a rim nick on the reverse which doesn't detract from the overall appearance of this rare pre-decimal coin.

2016 AUSTRALIAN OLYMPIC TEAM GOLD PLATED $5 SILVER

Joe has just returned from his buying trip in the US and managed to pick up a small group of these Gold Plated Australian Olympic Team $5 Silver Proofs.

At the heart of the coin is the team logo in gold. Seven rings interlock around the logo and symbolise unity among the Australian Olympic Team members in their journey for Olympic greatness.

Against both the mirror and frosted finish of the coin background is a magnificent golden wreath of Australia’s national floral emblem together with the floral emblems of all States and Territories that convey the whole nation’s support for our Olympic athletes.
