Tim Wendelboe: Barista, coffee buyer and owner of Tim Wendelboe Coffee in Oslo

“The new coffee cups from Figgjo completely change the coffee experience. By using the three different cups I am able to emphasize each individual coffee’s unique flavours and intensify my guests’ taste experience”

COFFEE CONCEPT IN COLLABORATION WITH TIM WENDELBOE

Figgjo Oslo has been developed together with Tim Wendelboe, one of Norway’s top baristas.

He became the Norwegian Barista Champion in 2004 and went on to win the gold medal at the World Barista Championships in the same year. Prior to that, he had won a silver medal at the World Championships in 2001 and 2002 and holds an impressive range of honours and awards.

Tim Wendelboe now runs his own coffee shop, which also bears his name, in the Grünerløkka district in Oslo. He has his own coffee roastery, espresso bar and coffee school there.

Tim Wendelboe is passionate about top-quality coffee and loves to share his expertise with guests who are discerning coffee consumers, thirsty for coffee innovations and more knowledge.

Figgjo Oslo is a new family of products that captures and challenges coffee trends. The family of products allows you to communicate and tailor the experience of the coffee’s aroma in a new and exciting way. Figgjo Oslo makes the overall experience at your eatery even more pleasurable.

The new coffee concept consists of three cups and a pot, which replace the traditional cup. The three special cups, heighten the flavour of the coffee each in their own way and all holds 20 cl. The 30 cl pot is designed to allow for easy serving and for the coffee to be brewed directly in the pot. In short, Figgjo Oslo creates a coffee drinking ceremo-ny in your eatery.

Figgjo Oslo does for coffee what custom-designed glass has done for wine.

Design: Kristin Hærnes Ihlen

Figgjo’s new coffee concept is named after Oslo, one of the world’s greatest coffee capitals. Oslo is a market leader in the development and refinement of black coffee - cup to cup with Seattle and Vienna, Havana and Melbourne, Lisbon, São Paulo and Taipei.

Tim Wendelboe compares brewing coffee to cooking a meal. The recipe for success is high-quality ingredients, proper equipment and good methods. Wendelboe operates in the experience market - just like Figgjo!

TULIP INTENSIFIES THE FLAVOUR

The cup brings to mind a cognac glass. Its tulip-shaped design gives an indication of how much coffee the guest should pour into the cup.

Its cylindrical, tapered shape allows the coffee to swirl and move, and gives it a more pronounced flavour profile. This allows the cup to express the coffee’s aroma in a different way than the Open and Split cups - some coffees taste considerably sweeter in this shape.

OPEN ENHANCES THE AROMA

The design allows the coffee to swirl and the open shape lets the aroma gently waft out. Just as you might want to aerate wine, you can add air to your coffee to enhance its aroma.

The temperature affects the flavour, and the cup’s solid, double-moulded base, releases the heat more slowly than the other cups, producing a clean and subtle flavour profile.

SPLIT ACCENTUATES THE FRAGRANCE

This cup has clearly separate spaces for coffee and aroma. A tapered neck intensifies the fragrance and creates a delicate drinking experience. The unique shape of the cup lets the coffee to spread across the tongue and accentuates its fresh flavour.

The cup is particularly suitable for coffees with fresh, fruity and floral aromas.
