What began as a few friends of Mike Weaver gathered in memory of a friend that they lost to soon has become a highly anticipated weekend of events, including a golf tournament and concert. “In six years, Mike’s friends have created a charitable organization that has donated more than $20,000 to the local community,” said Friends of Mike Weaver Foundation Co-Chairman Stephen Adams. “We are really proud of what this weekend has become and are pleased to honor Mike with the event year after year.” For the main event, a crowd of more than 700 people gathered in the Crazy Bull to see The Futurebirds, Thomas Wynn and the Believers and Savannah Alday. This was the perfect opportunity to not only see some great bands, but also get a sneak peak of downtown Macon’s newest venue, The Crazy Bull. Set to open in October, The Crazy Bull is a three-story entertainment venue with the ability to hold a crowd of a few thousand. With multiple floors, it will have the ability to house many bands, catering to the tastes of a variety of music lovers. “The Crazy Bull really helped to make the event a success this year,” said Adams. “It’s great to see all of the activity happening downtown and we enjoy contributing to that activity each year.” The Futurebirds, the main event, was a crowd favorite when they played for Weaver’s Weekend in 2011. Since then they have toured with many well-known bands including Drive By Truckers, Widespread Panic and The Whigs, and consistently selling out shows at top Athens music venues including the 40- Watt and the Georgia Theatre. Opening for the Futurebirds was Thomas Wynn and the Believers, drawing many fans after a full-capacity performance during Bragg Jam. Weaver’s Weekend was also excited to host a local country singer & Stratford Academy student, Savannah Alday, that has quickly made a name for herself performing at many fundraising events around Middle Georgia. This is a weekend to have fun with old friends, but it’s also a weekend to support a good cause. All proceeds go towards the Friends of Mike Weaver Foundation, a 501c3 organization committed to promoting youth sports and other youth opportunities in the Middle Georgia Area.

About the Friends of Mike Weaver Foundation...

Who We Are How To Apply

What We Support

The Friends of Mike Weaver Foun-dation, Inc. was founded in 2008 by a group of friends wanting to remember Mike Weaver by pro-moting youth sports in the Macon, Georgia area. This organization was the natural result of the group of Mike Weaver’s friends that have continued to organize Weaver’s Weekend. Weaver’s Weekend start-ed six years ago as a fundraiser for “The Mike Weaver Award at Vine-Ingle”, which was given annually to the Vine-Ingle Little League player who embodies the sportsman-like attitude of Mike Weaver. Your contribution allows us to continue rewarding those children and to help others in memory of our friend, Mike Weaver.

The Friends of Mike Weaver Foundation, Inc. is committed to promoting youth sports in the Macon, Georgia area. Thank You Sponsors

Letter from the ChairmenDear Friends, Family, Sponsors, Donors, Volunteers,

We are excited to present to you our first Friends of Mike Weaver Foundation, Inc. newsletter. We are coming off of our 6th Annual Weaver’s Weekend, and what a year it was. We had record attendance and a record fundrais-ing year. Through the years we have been fortunate to be supported by so many great sponsors and donors, includ-ing some who have donated every year since we began this journey. Thank you all for your contributions. As many of you know this past August marked the 10th anniversary of the day we lost our friend and family mem-ber, Mike Weaver. Not a day goes by we don’t think about Mike and where he would be had he not been taken from us too soon. We think it is safe to say, no mat-ter where in life he may have been, he would have that ear to ear smile he was known for. It is that smile and that caring spirit we strive to keep alive thru the Friends of Mike Weaver Foundation and Weaver’s Weekend. Our only rule of thumb is to continue putting together an event Mike would be proud of. It is purely a bonus we are able to raise the amount of money we have been able to raise to put back into the causes that Mike loved.

With that being said, we hope you will spread the word about the efforts we are taking to promote and enhance youth sports in the Middle Georgia area. Please share the enclosed application in this newsletter to any interested parties (school teams, local little leagues, etc.). Our goal is to disburse $1,000 a month to causes that will enrich and enhance Middle Georgia’s youth sports for as long as this Foundation is going. In the years past we have contrib-uted to the Mike Weaver Award, new batting cage mats at Vine Ingle, new concrete pad for bleacher seating at Vine-Ingle, educational assistance for high school athletes, financial assistance for a local high school ultimate frisbee team to qualify for the state finals and many more worth-while causes. We have already started brainstorming ideas for next year and suggestions are always welcome. We have booked The Crazy Bull for August 23, 2014 so mark your calendars! As our crowd continues to evolve we will continue to strive to put on an event that all of Mike’s friends and family will want to attend. After all, thats what it is all about.

Sincerely yours,Stephen Adams & Adam Dukes
