Evid has completed a beautiful pair of handspun garter stitch gloves from EZʼs book, and Tanis shared her soft heathery handspun destined for a ? vest? Michele has been experimenting with gradation dyeing. Machine knitted blanks are dyed in gradual gradations and then unravelled to knit a lace shawl.Cynara shared knitting projects from two books of local knitting designers - grey linen scarf from Jane Richmond’s “Island” book, and Sesawall socks from “Cascadia”, knit in Michele’s hand-dyed yarn.

Spinners came from up and down island in torrential rain to our 2014 Distaff Day. A great success, with 56 plus people attending.

Our Library is being generously filled with many of Els’ treasured books. They still need to be sorted and catalogued, and the work is being done by Jan, Kathy and Evid.

You are invited to participate in The Scarf Project welcome--a creative undertaking which will "knit" together the communities within Cowichan and offer a welcome to any newcomers in the Valley.All skill levels welcome--many hands, many ideas. Scarf pieces will be joined together in February 2014 then “go on the road,” travelling through each community to show diversity fused into something beautiful. Imagine a scarf miles long...The first meeting was held at "Inspire" at Shawnigan lake on November 27th.
