Their inventive-thinking skills are put to the test as they solve problems within each module, such as how to rebuild their rocket ship, how to cross a river of hot lava, or how to gather and contain sea creatures without causing them harm. * See MD and DC Guides.

Kids will use a designated natural theme and work with professional teaching artists to create an original performance based on that theme. On the final week, campers will be transported to a local amphitheater, where they will present a lunchtime performance for the public at the end of the week. Arts Adventure (July 7-25) - "What's That Rumbling Up Above: Tales of Thunder, Tales of Wonder" - is it Thor’s hammer… the footsteps of a giant?.....the angry outburst of an ancient Mayan god?... or the beating wings of the great thunderbird of Native American lore? From the beginning of time, human imagination has conjured up a multitude of explanations for those percussive concerts in the sky. Come explore what scientists know about this amazing natural phenomena. Arts Adventure (July 28-August 15) - "From the Seeds of Imagination: Magical, Mythical Plants" - potent herbs that bring immortality, giant beanstalks that grow from a single bean, magical fruit that casts a spell when it is eaten. Since the beginning of time, plants have provided man with food, shelter, clothing, healing and abundant seeds for magical stories. Arts Adventure for Digital Kids Taking a page from their traditional Arts Adventure Camp format, this camp will combine the tools of digital photography and video with an exploration of nature. Campers will develop a concept for a short movie, script it and storyboard it. Then campers will learn both behind the camera and on-camera techniques as they shoot their original movie. Campers will be invited to a "premiere" of final edited product in the fall.

Camp doesn't set out to make kids all-star rock climbers but rather helps kids find ways to solve problems, make good decisions, act as team players, learn respect for others, enjoy physical recreation and the outdoors, and do something healthy for their growing bodies. Sportrock's introduces children to rock climbing, both indoors and out. Our course is centered in the indoor facilities where campers spend 4 of the 5 camp days. The indoor gyms allows for better control of the climate and the terrain, thereby enhancing the learning atmosphere and ensuring that each child receives all the attention, guidance and instruction they need and deserve. On the 5th day, the camp travels outdoors to Carderock in Maryland or in Virginia. General Summer Camp and Advanced Camp.
