Girl Scouting is entering its 100th year in 2012, which has been designated “Year of the Girl.” We strive to evolve our programming as our culture evolves to meet today’s girl’s needs. Girls today want experiences that give them the opportunity to try something new, feel confident and face their fears. Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay (GSCB) offers summer camp programs that present these opportunities to our campers.

GSCB camps have a solid commitment to understanding and applying strategies that work best with girls. Whether paid or volunteer, we specifically hire those with experience in Girl Scouting so they have a passion for working with girls. Programs are designed to give girls the opportunity to learn through fun, imaginative and exciting activities. These activities help develop a strong sense of self, critical thinking skills, working in cooperation with others, developing relationships and becoming problem solvers.

You may see that many of our camps’ prices are far lower than our competitors. We do this because we want ALL girls to experience our camps. We also offer scholarships and discounts to campers to ensure that all families who need the support can receive it. Each program provides both emotional- and skill-based progression. We want every girl to walk away from camp wanting more—forever changed, with lifelong friends she will never forget.

Camp Sandy Pines 27157 Riverside Dr. Extension Fruitland, MD 21826Located in Fruitland, Maryland, Camp Sandy Pines is a wooded area of 49 acres with a small sandy meadow and is the only Council camp with tree houses. Camp Sandy Pines also offers a fun trip.

Day Camp - 1 Week

Camp Country Center 1051 Sharpless Rd. Hockessin, DE 19707Located in Hockessin, Delaware, Camp Country Center has 40 wooded acres, a meadow area, plus a scenic hiking trail. It is home to our Lynn W. Williams Science and Technology Lodge and program laboratory. Trained professionals facilitate specialized programming.

Day Camp - 6 Weeks

Camp Grove Point 2930 Grove Neck Rd. Earleville, MD 21919Located in Earleville, Maryland, Camp Grove Point is located on 265 scenic acres. Our most diverse camp, Camp Grove Point includes meadows, woods, wetlands and a large beach on the Sassafras River.

Camp Todd 25012 Beauchamp Branch Rd. Denton, MD 21629 Located in Denton, Maryland, Camp Todd has 58 acres sitting on a beautiful freshwater lake where various boating and swimming activities are offered. Camp Todd has a beautiful meadow, wooded areas, an island and a zipline.

Accreditation All camp programs meet standards of health, safety and program excellence set by the Girl

Scouts of the USA (GSUSA). Camp Grove Point is accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA). Both Camps Grove Point and Todd are certified youth camps licensed by the state of Maryland.

Camp Staff Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay is dedicated to hiring professional, nurturing camp staff and

volunteers. Our staff are carefully selected from applicants from all over the world. They are chosen for their maturity, program design abilities, experience and interest in the outdoors. All staff attend training involving camp skills, Girl Scout program, safety, emergency procedures and youth development. Staff are certified in appropriate areas to fulfill state, ACA and GSUSA requirements.

Health and Safety Your camper’s health and safety are our first priority. All programs are planned and staffed

according to the high standards of the ACA and GSUSA. All staff are certified in first-aid and CPR. If your camper has any allergies or health concerns, please contact the Director prior to camp.

Camper Behavior Camp life is an excellent opportunity for girls to live and work together. It is the camp staff’s

responsibility to ensure that girls find productive ways to work through their differences. However, if a girl is finding it too difficult to follow the behavioral agreements set by the camp, she may be asked to leave. It will be the parent’s or guardian’s responsibility to pick up their camper when notified. No refunds will be issued if a camper is sent home for behavioral issues.

Refunds and Cancellations Written cancellation notices and requests for refunds for the balance of the camp fee

must be received at least four weeks prior to the beginning of the scheduled camp session. If you register less than four weeks before a session starts, there will be no refund. Deposits are non-refundable. Refunds are not typically given for a child arriving late, leaving early or attending only part of the week prior to her session at camp. In the case where we ask a camper to leave early due to illness or injury we will then pro-rate the amount paid including only the time the camper was at camp, excluding the deposit. If your child has an illness or injury up to one week prior to her session at camp, a written explanation from a physician is required to receive a refund of any money paid beyond the deposit. If GSCB must cancel a session, a call to the parent/guardian will be made to discuss placement in an alternate program.

Financial Assistance Camp financial assistance, or “camperships” are available to help offset campers’

costs. Campership Financial Assistance Applications (pg. 10) must accompany the Summer Camp Registration Form. All registrations for camperships must be received by May 1, 2012. If you are paying for camp, you may be eligible for a dependent care credit on your federal income tax form. Contact your tax advisor for additional information. The following friends of Girl Scouts help to make financial aid possible: United Ways and Funds, local government agencies, service organizations, businesses, corporations, foundations and individual donors.

Swimming Evaluation At the beginning of each session (where swimming is availlable,) our aquatic staff host a

swimming evaluation for all campers. This is a non-threatening, non-competitive activity designed to evaluate each camper’s swimming ability and comfort level in the water. All swimming levels are welcome at camp.

Sleeping Arrangements Campers live together in groups based on their grades and programs. We have a range of

accommodations including:

• 4-person platform tents with wooden floors and cots. This is a favorite of many and a traditional element of Girl Scout camps everywhere. The majority of campers will live in traditional platform tent units.

• 4-person adirondack shelters with three walls, a fourth screen wall and bunk beds.

• 8 to 10-person modern cabins with electricity, air conditioning, a common room and “slumber party” style sleeping in bedrooms with cots.

First and Second Choice Be sure to list two choices on your registration form. If the first program choice is full,

we will place the applicant in their second choice program.

Camp Fees Full balance for camp is due four weeks prior to the start of your camper’s session. For registrations that

arrive after this time, please send full payment with registration.

Trading Post The Trading Post is GSCB’s camp store at Camps Grove Point, Sandy Pines and Todd. Campers may

purchase t-shirts, patches, stationery and other items. A deposit in your camper’s name enables her to make purchases from the Trading Post without the worry of handling money. Trading Post commitments will be converted to Bay Shop gift cards. The average deposit is $20. See pg. 10 for details.

Who can attend our camps? ALL girls, not just Girl Scouts are welcome to attend. There is a $12 fee due at registration for campers who are not currently registered Girl Scout members. This $12 fee is due in addition to the $50 deposit.

2. Attach payment or deposit. A $50 deposit is required for each camp session. For financial assistance, a $25 deposit is required along with the Campership Financial Assistance Application. NOTE: All camper balances are due four weeks prior to the start of the session. Deposit is non-refundable.

NOTE: Please keep all forms and bring on the first day of camp to the Director or director designee. If your camper has special needs and you would like for the Director and staff to be ready to assist your camper on the first day of camp, please feel free to mail your camper’s Health Form(s) to the office and/or contact the Director in advance of your camper’s session so we will be aware of your camper’s needs.

2. Early Bird Registration Discount: If you register with Council by March 15, you may take $5 off each regular Resident and Day Camp session on those registrations. (Excludes Summer Roundup at Camp Todd and Country Center’s Volunteer Camp.)

3. Volunteer at Camp: Volunteer at Camp for a session and receive a partial or full discount for your camper. (Must be atleast 18 years of age and must be atleast 21 to Volunteer at Camp Country Center.)

4. Sibling Discount: Make your camp experience a family affair. The camper’s sister will get $5 off each of their sessions. (Excludes Summer Roundup at Camp Todd and Camp Country Center’s Volunteer Camp.)

5. Frequent Flyer Options: (Camp Grove Point ONLY. Not eligible to be used with other discounts.) Frequent Flyer “flat rate” packages include transportation for Day Camp programs and all higher-priced specialty programs. Registering for five sessions or more qualifies for the frequent flyer pricing.

Frequent Flyer Option A: Summer Fun for $1,712 (Day and Resident Combo) We have eight weeks of Day and Resident Camp at Camp Grove Point. $1,712 will get you as many of those sessions as you would like to attend. It can be any combination of Day and Resident Camp programs for any one camper. This cost INCLUDES bus transportation during Day Camp sessions.

Frequent Flyer Option B: $1,012 in 2012 (Day Camp ONLY) Your daughter may attend up to a full summer of Day Camp programming. Eight weeks only $1,012. That is as low as $126 per week and INCLUDES bus transportation!

Summer Roundup is a Resident Camp program for ALL girls entering grades 1-8. This year we will work on patches that teach survival skills in a variety of areas. Learn to survive at camp, in the woods, in “battle” and even in the kitchen! Girls may participate in camp activities such as crafts, swimming, cookouts, songs, boating and campfire activities as well as grade level programs that may include off-site field trips. Summer Roundup is planned and staffed by local volunteers, and is not processed through GSCB for registration. (See #1, next column.)

August 5–9: Check-in Sunday, 8/5, 3 - 4 p.m. Check-out Thursday, 8/9 , 5 p.m. Early Bird Special!: $145 for all registrations on or before April 1, $150 for all registrations after April 1 (Camp fee includes t-shirt, bathing cap and mosquito netting.) Registration closes May 15, 2012 or when sessions become full. There is also an additional $12 fee for non-Girl Scouts to cover membership registration and insurance.

2. A $50 deposit is required for each camp session per girl. For financial assistance, a $25 deposit is required along with the Campership Financial Assistance Application. Deposits are non-refundable.

3. The balance is due by Friday, June 1. Failure to send payment at the proper time will result in cancellation of registration. No camper may attend Summer Roundup unless full balance is paid by the start of camp.

4. Confirmations including equipment list, health forms, approved programs, and balance due will be sent via email.

Summer Daze is a fun-filled enriching Day Camp experience for ALL girls entering grades 1-12 presented by nurturing volunteers at Camp Todd in Denton, MD. Each week they will learn how to do something new that they can bring home to share with you! Come explore with us, make new friends and create lasting memories. Please bring your lunch Monday through Thursday.

June 18- 22, June 25-29 and July 9-13 Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Optional overnight Thursday at no cost. (Includes dinner Thursday, breakfast and lunch Friday.) cost: $120 per camper (unless otherwise specified) includes snacks, materials, shirt and patch. This fee will be waived for one camper if an adult family member (age 18+) volunteers for the week. If you would like to volunteer, please contact the Camp Director.

Camp Todd Summer Daze TransportationCost: $30 per girl per session. Afternoon snacks are served on the bus. Exact locations will be disclosed in your confirmation packet.

Easton, MD: Pick up at 7:45 a.m., drop off at 5:15 p.m. Preston, MD: Pick up at 8:05 a.m., drop off at 4:55 p.m.

Camp Grove Point TransportationCost: $30 per girl per session. Afternoon snacks are served on the bus. Exact locations will be disclosed in your confirmation packet.

Newark, DE: Pick up at 7:30 a.m., drop off at 5:55 p.m. Middletown, DE: Pick up at 8 a.m., drop off at 5:15 p.m.

Cecilton: Pick up at 8:25 a.m., drop off at 5 p.m.

Camp Grove Point offers both Day and Resident Camp for ALL girls. The girl is our primary focus, which is why we offer many wonderful program opportunities that are suited to girl interest and grade level.

On a special note, this year we are taking the equestrian program to new levels. Each group will be traveling to a local provider who will specialize each week in a progressively deeper understanding of the study of horses. Girls will be grouped as new or experienced riders and will have the opportunity to explore within their skill level. Come for one week or all five for a wonderful adventure in equestrian studies.

Camp Grove Point will run for eight weeks, beginning June 18 and finishing August 10. Day camp is Monday - Friday 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Optional overnight Thursday at no cost. (Includes dinner and breakfast.) Resident campers check-in 3 - 4 p.m. on Sunday and check-out 3 - 4 p.m. on Friday.

Day camp cost: $160 per camper. Resident camp cost: $275 (unless otherwise specified). Cost per camper for both camps includes meals, snacks, materials, shirt and patch.


The Bay Shop Trading Post is available at Camps Grove Point, Sandy Pines and Todd at convenient times.

A pre-packaged “surprise” camp bag with fun camp items will be available for you to purchase for your camper. Parents can deposit funds into their camper’s account for Trading Post shopping. All Trading Post unused funds will be converted to Bay Shop gift cards. More specific information will be sent with camper confirmation packets. We accept checks, cash and credit/debit cards. Trading post gift cards may not be redeemed for cash.
