C20 DEMOLITION 05 SURVEY - Scope: Before starting work, carry out a survey and submit a report and method statement

covering the following: - Condition and demolition methods and sequences for the structures. - Removal methods of any hazardous materials. - Type and location of adjoining or surrounding premises which may be adversely affected

by the Works. - Identification, location, disconnection and removal of services. - Arrangements for protection of personnel and the public. - Arrangements for control of site transport and traffic. 10 EXTENT OF DEMOLITION - General: Subject to retention requirements specified elsewhere, demolish structures down to

floor level. 15 BENCH MARKS - Unrecorded bench marks and other survey information: Give notice when found. - Do not remove or destroy. 25 LOCATION OF SERVICES - Services affected by the Works: Locate and mark positions. - Mains services: Arrange with the appropriate authorities for locating and marking positions. 30 DISCONNECTION OF SERVICES ARRANGED BY CONTRACTOR - Responsibility: Before starting demolition arrange with the appropriate authorities for

disconnection of services and removal of fittings and equipment. 31 DISCONNECTION OF SERVICES ARRANGED BY EMPLOYER - Responsibility: The Employer will arrange disconnection of services and removal of fittings

and equipment prior to demolition. - Before starting demolition ensure that disconnections have been carried out. 32 DISCONNECTION OF DRAINS - General: Locate and disconnect all disused drain connections. Permanently seal within the

site. 35 DRAINS IN USE - General: Protect drains and fittings still in use and keep free of debris at all times. - Damage: Make good any damage arising from demolition work. Leave clean and in working

order at completion. 40 BYPASS CONNECTIONS - General: Provide as necessary to maintain continuity of services to occupied areas of the

same and adjoining properties. - Notice: Give adequate notice to occupiers if shutdown is necessary. 45 SERVICES WHICH ARE TO REMAIN - Damage: Give notice and notify the service authority or owner of any damage arising from the

execution of the Works. - Repairs: To the satisfaction of the CA and service authority or owner. 50 WORKMANSHIP - Standard: Demolish structures in accordance with BS 6187. - Operatives: Appropriately skilled and experienced for the type of work and holding or be

training to obtain relevant CITB Certificates of Competence. - Site staff responsible for supervision and control of work: Experienced in the assessment of

risks involved and methods of demolition to be used.

C90 ALTERATIONS - SPOT ITEMS To be read with Preliminaries/General conditions.

GENERALLY

110 APPLICABILITY: The requirements of this section apply to all alteration work to existing buildings given as spot items in various parts of the schedules.

120 QUALITY OF WORK in spot items to be as described in the relevant other sections of the

specification. 150 SUPPORT existing structure as necessary during cutting of new openings or replacement of

structural parts. Do not remove supports until new work is strong enough to support the existing structure.

160 PROTECTION OF BUILDING INTERIORS: Protect building interiors exposed to weather

during course of alteration work with temporary weathertight enclosures of sufficient size to permit execution of new work and ability to withstand severe weather.

170 MAKING GOOD: Unless otherwise stated make good parts and/or finishes of existing

structure disturbed during alterations to match existing.

PRODUCTS/MATERIALS ARISING

210 OWNERSHIP: Products and materials arising from the alteration work are to become the

property of the Contractor except where otherwise stated. Remove from site as work proceeds.

220 OWNERSHIP: The following are to remain the property of the Employer. Carefully lift to take

down and store on site where directed. Protect until removed by Employer or end of Contract:

As itemised in the Schedule of Works. 220 HARDCORE:Brick rubble or other hard materials arising from the work may be re-used as

hardcore, subject to compliance with specification. 230 INFECTED TIMBER: Where instructed, remove timber affected by fungal/insect attack from

the building in a way which will minimise the risk of infecting other parts of the building, and destroy as soon as possible.

280 BURNING ON SITE of materials arising from the work will not be permitted.

G20 CARPENTRY/ TIMBER FRAMING/ FIRST FIXING 40 MOISTURE CONTENT - Moisture content of wood and wood based products at time of installation: Not more than: - Covered in generally unheated spaces: 24%. - Covered in generally heated spaces: 20%. - Internal in continuously heated spaces: 20%. 41 BOLT/ SCREW ASSEMBLIES GENERALLY - Designation: As specified. - Size: As specified. - Coating applied by manufacturer: ______ . - Nuts and washers: Material grade and finish to suit bolts - Washer dimensions: Diameter/ side length of washers in contact with timber faces to be

other movements. - Glass: - Standards: Generally to BS 952 and to the relevant parts of: BS EN 572 for basic soda lime silicate glass. BS EN 1096 for coated glass. BS EN 12150 for thermally toughened soda lime silicate glass.
