2. Underline words with long a spelled ay.

Jeff Clay was the new kid in Miss Kemp’s first grade class. It was Jeff’s first day. Jeff got lost on his way to Miss Kemp’s class. He did not find his class. After that, Jeff did not want to go to his class. The other kids may not like him. The kids may laugh at him because he did not find his way to class. So, Jeff put on his gray backpack and hid by the slide. “I can stay by the slide all day,” said Jeff. Kate and Lex spotted Jeff hiding by the slide. “Play with us,” said Lex and Kate. Jeff said, “I do not want to play.” Kate and Lex were sad. Jeff did not want them to be sad. So Jeff put his gray backpack by the slide. Then, Jeff went to play with the other kids. After class, Jeff had a joke for Lex and Kate. The kids laughed at Jeff’s joke. “You are so funny!” Kate said and smiled. The kids in class liked Jeff Clay. Jeff was funny. He liked to tell funny jokes to the class. “I think I may like this new class!” said Jeff.
