Reminder: Dear Parents: Please be sure to sign and return your child’s blue card if you haven’t already. In addition, please make sure you sign their reading logs in their blue reading folder every night. Please be reminded that there will be no school on Monday, October 3rd and Tuesday, October 4th in honor of Rosh Hashanah. Thank you! Also, students:

● Come to school with 5 sharpened pencils everyday! ● Read for at least 30 minutes every night! ● Write 3 to 4 booklets a week!● Homework is a must!

Dear Parents,It was so nice to meet many of you last week at our Curriculum night! Many of you expressed a concern about the homework. Please remember if you have any questions to email me. Also, please continue to have your child complete the vocabulary in their home fun notebooks every week. What I suggested to some parents was to have a special section in the back of their child’s home fun notebook for vocabulary. Please be sure that they are writing the word, its meaning, a picture, and a sentence for the words that they aren’t familiar with.Also, at Curriculum night I shared my contact info for the Remind App. Here is the updated contact information:

Science: (Science Unit 1: Earth Science) This week we continued our investigation about the different properties of rocks.Play I Spy. Gather five to ten objects that share a property and place them on a table. A set might include pencils, pens, flatware, straws, and chopsticks because they are all long and narrow. A set of books and catalogs might constitute a second set, a collection of stuffed toys a third, and so on. Two players play the game. First the players organize the objects from smallest to largest. Then one player secretly chooses one object and compares it to the others: “I spy something that is bigger than ______ and smaller than ______.” The second player guesses which object was chosen by player 1. If the guess is incorrect, player 1 provides a second “I spy” hint. Swap roles and play again. Choose new sets of objects.
