Laws that Guide The DP

• Guided by the Maharashtra

Region and Town Planning Act

of 1966, commonly known as

the MR&TP act

• The DP has to be revised

minimum every 20 years

• The last DP part was sanctioned

in the year 1994

• New DP will be enforced from

2014 and will be in force till

2034

• EOI date 26th June 2009

Existing DP

• The Development Plan (Maps and a Report on

the Development Plan)

• Development Control Regulations Commonly

referred to as the DCRs

• Reservation Document giving the various

reservations ward wise

Contents of the DP

What DP could have

• Layers of development control maps and

regulations for various issues in the city

• Proper zoning and sub-division plan

• Implementation Strategies for prescribed

development in the DP

• Development Control Regulations for all

layers of the city fabric• Should not circumvent the development control guidelines by giving executive powers to

bureaucracy

•Area-wise implementation of the existing DP according to the MCGM is only 12%

•The current DP does only amenity provision however it has a broader implication on the nature of the development of the city
