Reports of the chairsof the committees

Training Committee

By Pierre Fontaine

INTRODUCTIONOur task. Training, inside FEPTO, is important.FEPTO is a trainers’ organisation and in the aims inthe statutes, we see: 1. to support the developmentof psychodrama training; 2. to promoteinterchange and communication between trainers;3. to recommend minimal training standards. The field. Our membership are training andaccrediting organisations. In the training institutes they deliver thecurriculum and deal with organisationalmanagement. In the accrediting organisations their tasks are;the accreditation of trainees and theircontinued training as practitioner; theaccreditation of training institutes, of trainingand trainers; the representation ofpsychodrama on national level.

CURRICULUM STANDARDS.1. Table. We compared our MTS with the traininghours given by the training institutes and thetraining hours asked by the accreditingorganisations. We made a large table with this datafor the 48 present members of FEPTO. We shall atfirst send it to them by mail and ask them to look attheir data and correct and update them. Some dataare surely obsolete. After the deadline we shallpublish the table in FEPTO News before the annualmeeting.2. Implementation. In our General Assembly weagreed to implement these standards for all theirtrainees finishing their training after April 2008.

New members have maximum three years timeafter their becoming member.3. New standards. After April 2008 we can againintroduce some changes in the MTS and prepare anew version to be discussed, worked out andvoted. We surely wish to give more attention to theaims of the training.

CURRICULUM DIVERSITY.To have our training hours are in agreement withthe MTS is similarity and rules, but our curricula arealso different and each time a piece of creativity. We have more to tell about how we train, toexchange our rich diversity. It was agreed in theBoard to give more space for it during the annualmeeting, the post-meeting conference and inFEPTO News.

TRAINING OF TRAINERSWith the accrediting organisations we try to seeand study the different ways the training of trainersis organised and accredited in the differentcountries.

ACCREDITING ORGANISATIONS. NAPO’sWe wish to inspire our members to build NationalAccrediting Psychodrama Organisations (NAPO’s)assuring the accreditation of trainees, of traininginstitutes and of trainers: registering andassociating the psychodramatists, giving continuedtraining, organising annual conferences, publishinga PD journals and representing PD in National andofficial bodies. At present most of the accrediting organisations inFEPTO work this out in half of the countries. Wewish to develop this system.

EVOLUTIONThere is a movement from standards, how manyhours to the “how “questions, the aims, the ways, the content with itsoriginalities and specificities. We are of course stillinterested in training organisations, but now weorient ourselves more to the accreditingorganisations.

FEPTO Research Committee

By Michael Wieser

There were suggestions that our post meetingconferences should be supported by a grant ofEU or we should find money for research. Wewould require a strong proposal for such a purpose. The local organisers for the next post conferencemeeting, Turkey, felt that a research seminar orworkshop would not find participants, so we haveplanned a lecture during the meeting. At our last council meeting in Dave (Belgium) wediscussed implementation of research in trainingprograms. The trainees could learn to usemeasurement tools like Brief Symptom Inventory(BSI), Social Network Inventory (SNI), and Well-Being Index of WHO. The first step would be forthem to use these tools for evaluation. Somestudents in different countries asked for help withtheir master and PhD thesis and got an answer.Pierre Fontaine will write an article on usingresearch for trainees and will have an exchangewith Ilana Ben Meir about effectiveness of doubletechnique.Prof Elliott (http://www.ipeppt.net/index.htm) hasmoved from the Catholic University of Leuven toStrathclyde in Glasgow. We shall try to plancollaborative research between now and ourmeeting in Glasgow in 2008. Out of their networkBradley T. Klontz contacted mewww.klontzkahler.com www.klontzcoaching.comhttp://www.wisdomofscrooge.com/ .In Catalonia (Spain) there is an accrediting processinside social insurance. In Switzerland a trainingprogram applies for accreditation by professionalorganizations. I have supplied them with papers. At the IAGP congress in Brazil, Jasna Veljkovic andI presented empirical psychodrama research. Thebook: Maciel, M., Burmeister, J., & Baim, C. (Eds.).

Advanced Theories and Practice in Psychodrama.London: Brunner/Routledge is announced forJanuary. There are several authors from FEPTO.

Membership Committee

By Inci Doganer

Chair person: Inci DoganerMembers: Yaacov Naor, Monica Westberg

This report is the summary of the results of theexchanges of the membership committee memberswho gathered in FEPTO Meeting in Cluj, with laterdiscussed and agreed upon points in CouncilMeeting in Dave in November 2006.

1. Some clarifications in the procedures ofbecoming a member1.1. The candidate institute or organization makesa short presentation after the chair of committeegives his/her report about them in the GeneralAssembly. This should be shorter then the previousyear’s presentation.

1.2. The representative of the candidate institute ororganization to be voted should be present in themeeting. Although he/she does not participate inthe General Assembly during the discussion andvoting, the representative should not be present butbe available to be called in case of the need forclarification.1.3. The recommendation letters should havedetailed knowledge about the instiute (thesturucture, program, trainors).2. How to keep membership?2.1. We as FEPTO should also give emphasis ondefining how to keep membership. As a policydocument we say that active participation toFEPTO meetings and active work for FEPTO incommittees is desirable. The input from all memberinstitues is essential in order to make democraticdecisions. If an institute has not been represented

3 times in succession at the annual meeting ordoes not participate as expected in committeeactivities, FEPTO will write to the institute in orderto clarify the position. It is possible that such aninstitute may have to reconsider their membership.

Moreno HouseBy Michael Wieser

Adelsa Cunha (Brazil) organized the idea toproduce bricks to sell. Carlos Meira (Brazil) madea coloured painting A4 out of a photo from BarbaraPfaffenwimmer (Austria). 5000 copies wereproduced. The FEBRAP (Federation of BrazilianPsychodramatists) stand at IAGP Conference andCarmen de la Fuente (Mexico, translator) offered itto the conference participants. Grete Leutz (GER)wrote about it in the international psychodramaannouncement list. Heloisa Fleury (Brazil) showedit before a keynote speech and I announced it inthe General Assembly, different panels andpresentations. The last day I was at the FEBRABstand to sell the copies. To cover the costs ofproduction FEBRAP also sold it at their nextnational conference in November. Somecolleagues were helpful by taking some copiesabroad to sell them at their local conferences, associations and institutes. Renée Oudijk (NL) haspledged that the amount her students bringtogether, the School will double. Many thanks to allof them, especially to Adelsa Cunha. We hopesoon they will visit the Moreno house and will seetheir fruits of work and financial risks.DVD Presentations: Heloisa Fleury was so kind tointroduce my presentation and did also sometranslation into Portuguese. First Anne AncelinSchützenberger´s (France) and ElisabethAdelsberger´s (Austria) DVD “On the traces of J.L.Moreno in Vienna” was shown followed by BrigitteWojta´s (Austria) DVD “Dr. Jakob Levy Moreno”.We had a discussion about the Moreno house withJoseph Moreno (USA). Elisabeth Adelsberger was

so kind to offer some amount of the selling of herDVD at the FEBRAP stand for the Moreno house.Lecture series and conferences in the Morenohouse: Rene Marineau (Canada), Joseph Morenoand Eva Fahlström (Sweden) offered to have asummer course or session in the house and wouldnot ask for a honorarium. Jose Fonseca (Brazil),Gabor Pinter (Hungary), Maurizio Gasseau (Italy),Monica Zuretti (Italy, Argentina), Renée Oudijk(NL), Pierre Fontaine (B), Manuela Maciel(Portugal), Chiara de Marino (Italy, Brazil), EllaMae Shearon (GER/USA) and Jonathan Fox (USA)have made similar promises. We need someonewho is willing to organize this. The idea is to spenda working day for a foundation. Gretel Leutzalready had a seminar of her Moreno institute endof September there and wrote a report. JakobMueller (Switzerland) joined this with a group of hisnew graduates, which could be a model.Rene Marineau also offered to bring some oldmaterial of his archive to the Moreno house.Marco J. D. Maida (Brazil), the movie-maker of“Jacob Levy Moreno – his life and his muses”asked to find the words of the father on the walls inthe Moreno house.Rudolfine Lackner (Austria, ed.) (2006) andCornelia Silli made a new exhibition and book: DasFindbuch zur Vereinigung bildender KünstlerInnenÖsterreichs [Association of Women Fine ArtistsAustria]. Vienna: VBKÖ (including a CD-Rom ontheir archive).Mid June I sent an offer to the owner of the housethere was no answer. Helmut Haselbacher(Austria) got some informal information:

• We need 150 to 200,000 EURO on thesavings bank book, at the moment we have1,044. Jakob Mueller has made thefollowing proposal; that a few people buythe house to save it. For three years theyshould give a credit to the associationwithout interest, after that normal bankinterest rates would apply.

• We are founding an (international)association; the provisionalconstitution/statute is in discussion. JakobMueller will donate money to consult alawyer; hopefully we can find a jurist asmember of the council.

Barbara Farkas Erlacher (Austria) and FriederikeScherr (Austria) are asking in the Austrian ministryof education, science and arts for money from the

state and EU. For science there seems no way forus, but probably in culture and education. Thatneeds an organisation which has been active fortwo years, it could be FEPTO. Barbara will contactthe government of Lower Austria; Bad Vöslau ispart of that. (It is amazing how much she isengaged, this year she celebrated her 70th

birthday). Barbara Pfaffenwimmer (Austria) willstart a nicer homepage on our project. I spoke withDr. Barbara Lesak of Theatre Museum in Vienna, she gave me some advices. There is also someactivity to take care of the grave of J.L. in Vienna.

• We have to announce in nationalpsychodrama newsletters, websites andgeneral assemblies.

• Annual donations should be according thesize of the national associations (5 to 10EURO add to the membership fee) and withan annual collective transfer (Grete Leutz,GER). AIPSIM , the Italian association ofPsychodrama, decided to donate ! 2000(Chiara Baratti) and will become part of aninternational advisory board. JorgeBurmeister (GER) suggested donating 10%of all psychodrama seminar profit.

• Judith Teszary suggested producing a littlebooklet financed by FEPTO.

• The Austrian Association of Group therapyand Group dynamic (OeAGG), generalsecretary Maria Majce-Egger, told us thatshe likes this initiative of members and willbe co-organizer of conferences and the like.

• We are in contact with a trustee (TreubilanzDr. Beatrix Schodl Steuerberatungs GmbH,Vienna) to control our finances, if it is not toexpensive. According to Austrian law anassociation must have a proof of theaccountancy. FEPTO council will adviseand check the proponents of theassociation. IAGP board decided to supportthe project, so they probably also will installsome controlling.

• If the owner of the house will not rent or sellit to us, we will construct only a virtualmuseum, archive, and library in internet. Some money will go to that project, the restwe want to return to the donators. Somesaid this would be too expensive outside EUand there are suggestions to charity.

I think it is up to us psychodramatists to bring thisproject to a success.
