World-renowned researchers, honorable professors, distinguished delegates, ladies and gentlemen:   I would like to introduce and welcome you to the 13th International Conference on Hand-Arm Vibration (ICHAV). The 13th  ICHAV is an international conference on hand-arm vibration – health effects and epidemiological characteristics, diagnosis, exposure measurement and assessment, combined noise-vibration exposures, combined whole-body and hand-arm vibration exposures, foot vibration, design and maintenance of vibrating tools and anti-vibration devices, and other related issues – organized under the auspices of the International Advisory Committee on Hand-Arm Vibration. The 13th ICHAV will be held from Oct. 12 to Oct. 16, 2015 and will focus on the intervention and prevention of vibration-induced injuries and disorders, and the promotion of healthy work environments. The 13th  ICHAV will provide an opportunity for researchers, professors, occupational medicine practitioners, industrial hygienists, health advisors, and students around the world to share their recent findings, new experiences, and accumulated knowledge in the field.   The 13th ICHAV will be held in Beijing, the capital of the People's Republic of China.  Beijing is also the nation's politic, cultural, international exchange, scientific and technologic innovation centers as well as China's most important center for international trade and communications. With the biggest central square in the world - Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, the largest and best-preserved Imperial Palace Complex, a superbly preserved section of the Great Wall as well as the largest sacrificial shrine complex in the world, the Temple of Heaven - Beijing attracts both domestic and foreign visitors who all come to wonder at its long history and unique cultural relics.   I warmly invite you to attend the 13th ICHAV and visit Beijing, and I look forward to seeing you in Beijing for this exciting event!   On behalf of the organizing committee,   Prof. Xing Gao, chairman of the 13th ICHAVCapital Medical University

Part 1: Preconference Short Course - October 12th, 2015 The course will briefly introduce you to human responses to hand-transmitted vibration exposure and how they can be predicted from measurements of vibration exposure. It is ideally suited to engineers, industrial hygienists, occupational medical doctors, professors, scientists and others seeking a general understanding of this subject and related regulations. It will cover the following topics:

• Principles of the measurement and evaluation of human vibration exposures• Health effects of hand-transmitted vibration• Diagnosis of disorders caused by hand-transmitted vibration• Epidemiology of disorders associated with hand-transmitted vibration• Standards, limits and criteria for hand-arm vibration• Measurement and evaluation of hand-tool vibration• Preventative measures for hand-arm vibration

Part 2: Regular Conference - October 13th - 15th, 2015 – English only ( The detailed agenda will be provided next time )The Conference provides a technical forum for exchange of information, dissemination of research findings and the opportunity to be updated on current issues related to human exposure to hand-transmitted vibration. Presented papers will cover all aspects of hand-transmitted vibration. More information on the Program Sessions and Topics can be found in Call for Abstracts.

Part 3: Workshop: Single Shock – October 16th, 2015 – English onlyThis workshop will discuss single shock exposure from tools such as nail guns. The topics will cover the measurement of single chock, quantification of exposure dose, and risk assessment. A draft of a proposed standard on such exposure will also be discussed. The outputs of the workshop will be summarized and distributed to the participants. They will also be used to help further develop the standard. Mr. Uwe Kaulbars and Mr. Paul Pitts will chair this Workshop. Please contact them ([email protected]; [email protected] ) if you need more information and/or would like to offer a keynote for the Workshop.

This conference includes three parts.
