From time to time missionaries write or call me and express frustration and disappointment because they have worked very hard, been very obedient, and still haven´t been blessed with baptisms. They often express concern that maybe they aren´t being a very successful missionary. It is very important that missionaries in El Faro understand how the Lord defines a successful missionary. Directly from Preach My Gospel Chapter 1 is the answer to that question. Your success as a missionary is measured primarily by your commitment to find, teach, baptize, and confirm people and to help them become faithful members of the church who enjoy the presence of the Holy Ghost. Avoid comparing yourself to other missionaries and measuring the outward results of your efforts against theirs. Remember that people have agency to choose whether to accept your message. Your responsibility is to teach clearly and powerfully so they can make a correct choice. Some may not accept your message even when they have received a spiritual witness that it is true. You will be saddened because you love them and desire their salvation. You should not, however, become discouraged; discouragement will weaken your faith. You can know you have been a successful missionary when you:

1) Feel the Spirit testify to people through you.

2) Love people and desire their salvation.

3) Obey with exactness.

4) Live so that you can receive and know how to follow the spirit, who

will show you where to go, what to do, and what to say.

5) Develop Christlike attributes.

6) Work effectively every day, do your very best to bring souls to

Christ, and seek earnestly to learn and improve.

7) Help build up the Church (the ward) wherever you are assigned to

work.

8) Warn people of the consequences of sin. Invite them to make and

keep commitments.

9) Teach and serve other missionaries.

10) Go about doing good and serving people at every opportunity,

whether or not they accept your message.

When you have done your very best, you may still experience

disappointments, but you will not be disappointed in yourself. You can feel

certain that the Lord is pleased when you feel the Spirit working through you.

We feel so grateful to be surrounded by so many dedicated successful

missionaries in El Faro.

Con mucho amor,

Presidente Dayton

Attributes of Jesus Christ – Patience

Message From Hermana Dayton

13 de Septiembre de 2015El Clarín de El Faro

In Preach My Gospel we learn that ,"Patience is the capacity to endure delay, trouble, opposition, or suffering without becoming angry, frustrated, or anxious." When we are patient we hold up under pressure and are able to face adversity calmly.

Job is the ultimate example of patience. The suffering he endured is overwhelming. Job's seven sons and three daughters were killed, he lost all of his herds and flocks, all but three of his herdsmen were killed. In job 1:20-21 it says that Job "arose and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground and worshipped. And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave and the Lord taketh away; blessed be the name of the Lord." Paul wrote "we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience, hope." Romans 5:3-4 Job blessed the Lord even after he lost everything. We learn in the scriptures that the end result of glorying in tribulation is that we experience the power of God's love through the power of the Holy ghost. In the end, the Lord praised Job and rewarded him with double of what he had taken from him.In missionary work we can apply the principle of patience as we --

1--Realize the final result of life's situations are in God's hands.

2--Realize that our investigators will all progress at different levels--some take much longer.

Page 4: 13 September El Clarín

3--Take time to listen and understand our companions.

4--Take the time when we pray to receive promptings...to listen for the Lord to speak to us.

5--Wait for the Lord to answer our prayers in his timing.

6--As we endure trials and pain without becoming bitter.

President Monson said, "Life is full of difficulties, some minor and others of a more serious nature. There seems to be an unending supply of challenges for one and all. Our problem is that we often expect instantaneous solutions to such challenges, forgetting that frequently the heavenly virtue of patience is required." Patience-- A Heavenly Virtue--Ensign, Nov. 1995, pg 59.

President Dayton and I love you and feel grateful for how patient you have been with us over the last two months as we have tried to learn our responsibilities. We love you dearly and thank Heavenly father daily for the opportunity to serve with you in bringing others to Christ.

Much Love and gratitude for each of you--

testimony to me that there

are prepared people in

EVERY area, and most of

them have been placed

around the members. All we

have to do is open our

mouths, invite, and share

the love and Gospel of the

Savior!

We have see many

miracels like always here in

San Sebastián but one of

the most amazing by far has

to be the baptism of Maria!

Maria really is a testament

to the The words of the

Savor through Joseph Smith

saying that the field is white

and ready to harvest! Maria

contacted us on the street,

recognizing that we were

missionaries! We had talked

with her and found out that

she already knew the

church was true all she

needed was the

missionaries and the

directions to the church! I

feel like we haven't done

anything to say it was our

work the work really goes to

Heavenly Father for

preparing the heart of

Maria and to her for being

ready to receive the gospel!

Like always there were

some difficulties with her

work and so we had to

postpone the baptism for

four weeks but amazingly

thought the miracles we see

we were able to meet with

her and accomplish all

three things the interview

baptism and confirmation in

one day! She doesn't have

a lot of time and so we

knew we needed to take

advantage of the time

when we had it!

You are awesome thanks

for coming to the Baptism of

Matt, I'm sure you have a

very filled schedule. Matt is

doing great he is a priest

teacher to the few people

that speak English in the

ward and to be an English

teacher possible for the self

sufficient classes. I am doing

well and it's been a great

week.

WE SAW A BAPTISM!!!

Delia was baptized!!!! It was

so amazing to see how

incredibly prepared she was

to take this step and follow

the Savior. She had come

to church three times, and

this week we went over

everything and prepared

her, and she was so ready!!

The miracle.....the

difference from when I met

her, being hardly able to

talk because of sorrow and

grief, and later throughout

the teaching process, poco

a poco seeing the Spirit

touch her soul and help her

understand the Plan of

Happiness, to her baptism

and confirmation day!! She

showed up early to her

baptism and was just

beaming, a pesar de her

load and burden and

worries. It was another

The miracle that ai saw

this week has to be with

Matt. Just seeing how he has

taken all the right steps in life

to come to this point in his

life and when he moved to

an entirely different country,

he sought out the

missionaries so that he could

be baptized. There are lots

of members that move

countries and never take the

time to search out the

church, yet an investigator

did all he could to find it and

be baptized, even during his

honeymoon

Bueno la verdad es que

esta semana ha sido

fantástica ya que tuvimos

muchos milagros en San

Sebastián... Estuvimos toda

la semana intentando

contactar con Maria y al

final ella contesto y

quedamos para el sábado

para poder tener la

entrevista entonces nuestro

lider de distrito vino pero ella

no pudo tener tiempo

asique lo hicimos el domingo

y fue muy bueno la verdad

ella recibió el espiritu santo y

ella estaba totalmente

preparada y estamos muy

felices de el paso que ella

tomó no lo esperabamos

así:)

goal is to get in the house

and start teaching the rest

of the family because that

was the first time we had

even met the parents.

Esta semana tuvimos un

milagro con Delia.

Empezamos a enseñarle y

ella era un mar de lágrimas,

ni podía hablar porque

empezaba a llorar por la

delicada situación de su

hijo. Le enseñamos todas las

lecciones y con cada visita

iba mejorando muchísimo.

Entendió la restauración del

evangelio y sacerdocio,

asimismo como el plan de

salvación y que podía

sellarse a su hijo por la

eternidad (su hijo era

miembro pero vive fuera de

España). Su bautismo y

confirmación fueron este fin

de semana. Fue increíble

ver su proceso de

conversión y también

conoció la iglesia en un

momento delicado de su

vida el cual le ayudo a

tener la humildad necesaria

para aceptar el evangelio

restaurado. Mi testimonio

ha crecido sobre el hecho

de trabajar con los

miembros y el impacto que

tiene en los investigadores.

The Miracle of Baptism

13 de Septiembre de 2015El Clarín de El Faro

What a spectacular

weekend! Thank you so

much for coming and

supporting Mireia in her

baptism on Saturday. She

was so happy to see

everyone there and I was

glad so many people were

there to support her. She is

doing amazing in her

spiritual progress. I have

never seen someone so

prepared before and it is

because she as so many

different member

influences, and more

importantly, has been

keenly receptive to the spirit

and acted on the

promptings she has felt. The

baptism and the

confirmation both went very

well and she loved every

minute of both. One of the

biggest miracles besides the

actual baptism was that her

parents came! The whole

week she had been telling

us that no one in her family

was going to come to

support her, which was sad

because i knew how

important it would be for

her to have her family there

supporting her, and so we

were praying hard

everyday so that at least

her mom could come. And

with a big miracle, not only

did her mom come, but her

dad came too! Now our
