It should be the goal of every missionary in the Spain Barcelona Mission to be a consecrated missionary. The consecrated missionary is one who is consumed by missionary work to the point that he/she is constantly looking for ways to share the gospel with others. They have, “Left the ship and their father, and followed Him.” They spend very little time thinking of their pre-mission life and are single-mindedly focused on finding and teaching. They are constantly looking for new people to teach and are teaching immediately when they find someone who will listen. In Preach My Gospel, it makes it clear that finding and teaching are related, connected activities. In a recent song sung by two very not famous people, the words tell us: Tengo dos zapatos que me guiarán en la obra misional. This song is a fun reminder that finding and teaching are inextricably related. We speak to everyone who will listen. We contact the first person out of piso. In all teaching situations—such as finding, teaching investigators, working with members we ask, “ Who do you know who would be interested in and benefit from this message?” After receiving a referral, ask, “Who else can benefit from our message?” Don´t hesitate to bring this up again and again and again in subsequent encounters. Again, PMG tells us that when you meet people, be prepared to teach brief summaries of restored truth so that the Holy Ghost can bear witness that you are the servants of the Lord. In many situations, you will need to be able to present a message in a minute or less. People are accustomed to short, powerful statements. It should be the goal of every missionary in the Spain Barcelona Mission to

be a consecrated missionary. The consecrated missionary is one who is consumed

by missionary work to the point that he/she is constantly looking for ways to share the

gospel with others. They have, “Left the ship and their father, and followed Him.” They

spend very little time thinking of their pre-mission life and are single-mindedly focused

on finding and teaching. They are constantly looking for new people to teach and

are teaching immediately when they find someone who will listen. In Preach My

Gospel, it makes it clear that finding and teaching are related, connected activities.

In a recent song sung by two very not famous people, the words tell us:

Tengo dos zapatos que me guiarán en la obra misional.

Uno es llamado “encontrar” el otro es llamado “enseñar.”

Sigamos adelante, no temais el Señor es fiel.

El va a ayudarnos, sus soldados de Israel.

Son gratos, los dos zapatos, si andamos con valor,

Son bellas, estas cuellas, si seguimos los pasos del Señor.

This song is a fun reminder that finding and teaching are inextricably

related. We speak to everyone who will listen. We contact the first person out of

piso. In all teaching situations—such as finding, teaching investigators, working with

members we ask, “ Who do you know who would be interested in and benefit from

this message?” After receiving a referral, ask, “Who else can benefit from our

message?” Don´t hesitate to bring this up again and again and again in subsequent

encounters. Again, PMG tells us that when you meet people, be prepared to teach

brief summaries of restored truth so that the Holy Ghost can bear witness that you are

the servants of the Lord. In many situations, you will need to be able to present a

message in a minute or less. People are accustomed to short, powerful statements.

Again, from PMG we learn that we should avoid the tendency to say things

such as, “Do you have a few minutes that we could teach you a message about…”

Instead, develop the habit of immediately beginning to teach and testify as you meet

people. Whatever your initial approach, refer quickly and simply to the Restoration of

the Gospel because that is our unique message to the world.

It is recommended that we prepare a 30 second, 60 second and 2 minute

“power statement” on the Restoration and have them ready to present at any time. We

would do well to practice them in companion study and polish them so that we can

deliver them with power and authority so that the Holy Ghost can bear witness that we

are servants of the Lord. Wonderful examples of such power statements are found in

Preach My Gospel, but you may want to use your own statement—one that you feel

comfortable with and can deliver effortlessly. An example might be: “If you knew that

God lived today and spoke to prophets like Moses in our own time, wouldn´t you want

to know more about that?¨ Another example might be: “If God talked to men on the

earth today to give instructions, wouldn´t that be the most important message in the

world.“ Or, “God loves you so much that He sent us to you today to let you know that

because of that great love He still speaks to prophets on the earth today. We would like

to tell you about one...”

It is my prayer that we may all become consecrated missionaries and think

about our high and holy commission constantly. May we be looking for opportunities to

share the gospel non-stop is my humble prayer.

Graciadamente,

Presidente Merril T Dayton

This week for Elder ____and

I was great! We saw a beautiful miracle of baptism with a young girl named Noelia. We were not so sure the baptism was going to go through because her mother was unsure if she

was going to let her get baptized or not. So on Thursday night, we went to their house to talk to the mother. We were there for some time because the mother informed us that she wasnt going to let her get baptized this same weekend. Well, with a lot of

prayer, teaching, and the help of the Sprit, the mother felt the spirit enough to allow her daughter get baptized. It was a tender mercy of the Lord. The baptism was beautifully performed by Elder ______. The service was great as well as the confirmation on Sunday. The mom was able to attend both the baptism and confirmation and has now accepted her own fecha to be baptized. It was a weekend full of miracles!

The marvelous miracle of baptism has once again taken place in the life of another child ofGod. Raquel was baptized and confirmed this past weekend and I felt so very humbled and gratified to feel the spirit that was present in both ordinances. I still cannot fathom the great change of heart that Raquel has had that led her to baptism. When I forte arrived in Terrassa I had met Raquel in her father's house who we were visiting, (he is a recent convert from earlier this year) and I remember her being very much AGAINST wanting to know anything about the church. She barely would even say hi to us! However, I also distinctly remember the spirit pressing upon me telling me that she had the potential to not only listen, but to be baptized one day as well.

President Dayton, First thing I wanted to get off my chest is that the lady Sonia that I had spoke to you about in our interview surprised us last night. So last night we had received a call from our ward mission leader telling us that Sonia would like to be baptized. So this week we are going to try our best to

prepare herself to be ready for baptism this coming week.

Our investigators are so great! We have:Samuel who should hopefully be baptized this weekend! He received all the charlas before and has been to church in Holland but stopped going because he disagreed with a testimony given once. It's was something super silly, but we have been able to teach him a little, and he loves hearing about the gospel! He's praying about this weekend but we are so sure of it!We have a new family who moved into our ward this week too and they have a 12 year old daughter who is not a member but who wants to be baptized! We're meeting her tomorrow and hoping she accepts a fechafor this weekend too! Then we have Graciella! She's incredible president! She is a members mom who simply couldn't be baptized in Mexico because her husband didn't want her too! She's received everything and so Hermana _______ and I are looking to see if she'll accept a fechafor this weekend too!

The Miracle of Baptism

18 de Octubre de 2015El Clarín de El Faro

What a wonderful week it has been President. Our miracle this weekend was the baptism of Durga and Arturo. We watched as two precious children of God entered the waters of baptism worthily and made this covenant with their Heavenly Father. I will forever be grateful for the spirit that was felt during their baptismal services. It was powerful and you could feel of their happiness and excitement as well. Before the baptismal service even started, Durga was standing by the font saying "Im ready lets go!" she was ready to enter the waters of baptism! What a special experience it is to watch as our dearly beloved friends make covenants with God that will ensure them their exaltation if they continue and endure to the end.Our goal and desire now is to continue baptizing. Joshi, Durga's husband is right on the edge of the font. He said that he needed a little more time to prepare and so we are thinking that he will get baptized either this weekend or the following. We just need him to read and pray harder than he has ever done it before so that the spirit gives him a powerfully testimony of the truthfulness of these things.
