    Group Activity Time

Craft TimeGroup Activity Time provides an active learningexperience to review lesson concepts.

Option #1FOLLOW THE LEADERStand at the front of a line, with the children behind you.Encourage the children to follow you and do whatevermovement you do. Walk, run, clap, hop, take big steps or littlesteps, march, walk backwards, put your hands on your hips orbalance on the edge of something. Start again with a newleader.

Say: Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego followed God and were thrown

into the fiery furnace. They were brave in the furnace because God waswith them. We can be brave too because God is with us.

Option #2THREE MEN IN A FURNACEHave the children stand in a circle. Give each child two 6 stripsofred crepe paper. Choose three children to be Shadrach, Meshachand Abednego. Have the three stand together in the middle ofthe circle. The rest of the children will be the flames in thefurnace. Direct them to wave around their strips of paper butnot to touch Shadrach, Meshach or Abednego. Play until allchildren have had a turn.

Say: Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego followed God and were thrown

into the fiery furnace, but they didnt get burned. They were brave in the

furnace because God was with them. We can be brave too because God

is with us.Option #3FIERY FURNACEDivide children into small groups. Give each group a pile ofblocks. At your command, have each group work together tobuild a furnace.

Say: Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego followed God and were thrown

into the fiery furnace. They were brave in the furnace because God waswith them. We can be brave too because God is with us.

    Supplies Needed:

Cardstock Crayons or markers 9x11 construction paper Red decorating items (tissue,

noodles, gift bag filler, pom-poms,glitter, fabric scraps)

    Glue

    Directions:

    1. Before class, copy the craft page onto cardstock.2. Have the children color Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.3. Glue the craft page onto the larger construction paper.4. Glue the red items all around the page to represent the

flames of the furnace.5. When doing a craft involving glue, consider giving children

small portions of glue in disposable cups with a paintbrushor craft stick for spreading. This will help to control theamount of glue that ends up on the page.

Joshua 1:9Be strong and brave because

    God is with you

They were Brave in the Furnace
