WHAT IS AN?

Expeditions are a life-changing experience, a chance for young people to go on a fun and educational journey with their friends. Most expedition destinations are third-world or developing countries, allowing students to not only experience stunning parts of the world but also witness a vert different way of life, often with the chance to immerse themselves in the culture through project work.

R&RTreat yourself to

some Rest & Relaxation! This

usually involves a few days on a

beautiful beach, reflecting on your

EXAMPLE ITINERARYThe below itinerary has been created by our Expedition Planner as a guide.

DAY 1Depart from the UK on your international flight to Marrakech. On arrival transfer to your hotel in central Marrakech; you will need to exchange some of the team budget, purchase a team in-country mobile and confirm your arrival with itinerary contacts.

DAY 2 Spend the morning exploring the busy square of Djeema el Fna and venture into the compact, yet sprawling souks. In the afternoon you will take the three hour journey down to Toubkal National Park - ready to start your trek.

DAY 3-6Trek in the amazing Toubkal National Park. You will get to sample the local cuisine and camp out under the stars. Local guides and mules will help you achieve this awesome feat!

DAY 7-8Spend the next couple of days at a village contributing to your community project. This is a unique opportunity to spend time in a rural community, sampling a very different way of life.

DAY 9 Return to Marrakech and spend the afternoon finding souvenirs in the markets and having a final celebratory meal.

DAY 10 Depart Marrakech and arrive back in the UK for your homecoming.

Due to the changing nature of the world over the build up period, Outlook may be required to change aspects of, or the order of the itinerary. Outlook will consult with the Link Teacher/Group Leader and all participants if this is the case.

ADVENTUREAt the Itinerary Development Day, with guidance from one of our destination experts, the team will be able to choose from options to finalise their itinerary. The choices may include the project they work with, the challenge level and type of trek and where they go for some rest and relaxation!

The Atlas Mountains are one of Africa’s greatest adventure playgrounds; with jagged peaks looming over the barren Saharan landscape. You will find yourself climbing ridges, crossing rivers and passing through traditional mountain villages.

The Toubkal Tour is a medium challenge, fantastic trek that takes in two valleys less popular with tourists. You will pass through mud bricked villages and wild camp in amazing locations.

You will be supported on your journey by a local guide, providing a valuable insight and knowledge of the Moroccan landscape and culture. A cook will accompany the team and provide all your meals, allowing a true experience and education on the tastes of Morocco. Exploring the wild landscapes and villages will truly immerse you into the ancient Berber spirit!Back in Marrakech you will discover influences from the whole of Africa and southern Europe; this vibrant city is a true cultural melting pot!

Explore the vibrant streets and souks, winding your way through the unique and spellbinding Djeema el Fna Square in the heart of the city. Practice your bartering while on the hunt for souvenirs, sample some of the local delicacies from one of the many food stalls and be on the lookout for snake charmers!

PROJECTThere are some great project opportunities in Morocco. You may choose to help out with the Asni Project, run by the community association of Tiwizi, set up for Berbers, by Berbers in the Atlas Mountains. They are a non-profit organisation aiming to improve facilities and schools, for the village of Asni, with the hope that the villagers can eventually become self sufficient.

The team will assist the association on their current projects, working alongside the local people. They have already made significant progress in the area, having improved access to drinking water, completed work against flooding and erosion of the environment through reforestation. In the past, Outlook teams have worked on improving the infrastructure of local schools and planting crops to boost the villagers’ income.

Your work will allow rural communities to create a more sustainable future and will provide an opportunity for you to gain a much greater insight into the people, environment and culture of Morocco.
