Topside Control Systems
FMC Technologies Master Control Station (shown right) and Subsea Power and Communications Unit (shown left) product lines features design innovations that easily handle the changing demands of todays subsea market place. These innovations are based on the experience gained through the installation and upgrades of over 100 systems worldwide.
Subsea Power and Communication Unit
FMCs new Subsea Power and Communication Unit (SPCU)
modular design improves FMCs ability to upgrade the
power and communications hardware and software as
technologies and system requirements change. This design
adds greater reliability and flexibility as well as ease of
service and maintenance.
The SPCUs reliability is demonstrated by:
Redundant hardware architecture to support isolation of
Side A and Side B communication paths improving
overall system reliability and ease of operation
The plug and play design of critical components to
support rapid field replacement with minimum down-
time for modifications and maintenance
Lines A & B in a single cabinet or having one cabinet for
each line; and
Reduced parts in inventory
Uniformly trained support personnel
The flexibility of the SPCU is illustrated by its:
Support of FMC 150 or 200 communication protocols and
multiple line voltages
Ease of upgrades for new technologies including fiber
optic, CAN BUS, and other industrial standards; and
Optional hardware configurations available for classified
areas
FMCs SPCU ULM service features include:
Integrated monitoring and control of critical instrumen-
tation (Line Voltage, Current, and Insulation)
Modular plug and play supports rapid field replacement
with minimal system down time
FMCs SPCU is providing reliability, flexibility, and ease of
service for todays ever changing subsea control environ-
ment.
Master Control Station
FMCs enhanced Master Control Station (MCS) incorporates
design innovation to handle todays changing subsea industry.
These innovations are based on the experience gained and
lessons learned through extensive years in the subsea controls
business.
The MCS has a modular hardware design and provides the
following benefits:
Utilizes fully redundant hot swappable fault tolerant PCs
with 99.999% uptime
Supports redundant Ethernet/Serial Hardware Interfaces to
external systems and devices
Easy Life of Field upgrades with straightforward software
revision control without interruptions to field operations
Faster delivery with lower cost
Enhanced customer support capabilities utilizing multiple
HMI interfaces where required
FMCs newly developed software is designed to be reliable,
reusable, configurable and scalable from a single well to fields
that contain up to 100 wells and provide:
Support multiple software protocols interfaces including
OPC, MODBUS, MODBUS TCP
Software configurable, user friendly, and support rapid HMI
screen development
Configuration via XML type files
Full sensor redundancy readings without switching lines
Core software components developed using Microsoft dot
net framework
The MCS allows for various hardware and software option
expansions and upgrades to meet customer requirements
without any interruptions to field operations.
