Weekly Theme: WEEKLY QUESTION: “What treasures can we share with neighbors?” *I can read high frequency sight words across, because, dance, only, opened, shoes, told **I can read words with ‘oo ’ (moon, bloom, boost, moose, tooth, zoo… ). *I can read words with ‘suffixes ’ (thankful, careful, mainly, neatly, wonderful, biggest, happier.…). *I can identify and use text features (glossary, captions, etc.) **I can use adjectives that compare . *I can give cause and effect for text . *I can predict based on text. **I can identify tens and ones in 2 digit numbers and add across tens to 20. *I can identify ’10 more or 10 less’ than a number, along with ‘1 more and 1 less’ than a number. **I can state facts plants and their growth. *I can watch and describe caterpillars’ growth into butterflies. The parent check sheet will guide you. Do the top side the 1 st week and the reverse side the 2 nd week. Our test is EVERY OTHER WEEK. We have groups working on 3 levels so far this year. Practice every night with them. TEST is Friday, April 27 th ( due to short weeks and days off). Our next ½ day is THIS FRIDAY, April 7 th , and it is a Micro Day! **FIELD TRIP: Thursday, April 13 th to the Great Arizona Puppet Theatre. We sent out permission slips and requests for chaperones last week. PLEASE return the slips and $2.00 per person to sign up your child and yourself, if you wish to go, AND ARE VOLUNTEER-TRAINED for DV. We have a couple people left to do Cub of the Week, and Frederick Home Writing is coming around to each Social Studies We will finish a unit of study on planets, objects in the sky, and light. THEN, we will begin two new exciting units: PLANTS and BUTTERFLIES! Each child will grow several plants and investigate these. As a class, we will ‘grow’ a few caterpillars into Monday: * Read for 20 minutes/*SIGN Reading Log **Words Their Way Spelling: Practice with 1 block each night/Sign * *Complete 3 squares in Tic-tac-toe. Math We will continue Module 6, which readdresses two digit numbers and identifying the tens and ones in those numbers. We also add and subtract, crossing over tens, with sums up to 20 and above. We will be able to identify ’10 more, 10 less’ than a given number or ‘1 more, 1 less’ than a given number.
