Getting Started

Your Responder LC remote is powered by an internal rechargeablebatterythatcanonlybeservicedbyanautho-rizedDirecteddealer.Duetotransitandstoragetimepriortoyourpurchase,thebatterychargemayhavedepleted.Toensureproperoperation,checkthebatterylevelandifnotfullycharged,usetheprovidedcabletoconnecttotheUSBportona computer. See“Battery Information (ResponderLC)”onpage49and“Status Screen Icons”onpage8 formoreinformationaboutthebattery.

Charging the remote control

• PlugtheUSBendoftheprovidedUSBcable intotheUSBportonacomputer.Insertthemini-USBconnectorintothemini-USBportlocatedonthesideoftheremotecontrol.Thetextfieldwilldisplay„CHARGE“ to indicate the remote con-trol is charging (The remote remains operational whilechargingandcancommandthesystem).

• Oncefullychargedthetextfieldwilldisplay„FULL“.

• The remote control is then ready for use. Disconnect thecablefromtheremotecontrolendfirst.

Commands and Confirmations Commands,BasicorAdvanced,areusedtoactivatesystemfea-turesandareperformedbypressingoneoftheCommandbut-tons.Basiccommandscontrolthemostoftenusedsecurityandremote start featureswhileAdvanced commands controlmorespecializedfeaturesandrequestreports.ConfirmationsforBasicorAdvancedcommandsareindicatedfirstbysirenchirpsandparkinglightflashes,andthenbyText,Iconsandbeepsortonesonthere-motecontrol.AdescriptionofeachfeatureconfirmationisfoundinthefollowingBasiccommandandAdvancedcommandsections.

Performing Commands PerformBasiccommandsbypressingoneofthecommandbuttonswhileintheDirectAccesslevel.Directaccessisavail-ablewhilethetextfielddisplaystheClock,TemperatureorRuntime. Perform Advanced commands by first accessingone of the Function Levels and then pressing one of thecommandbuttonswhilewithinalevel.FunctionLevelsareavailablewhenthetextfielddisplaysLEVEL1,2,3or4.

Advanced command example: Silent Arm• Press the -button once to access Function Level 1, thetextfieldwilldisplay„LEVEL 1“.

Basic Commands (Direct Access)

Arm – Press and release The alarm arms, doors lock (if connected), and the sirenchirpsandparkinglightsflashonce.The„ARMED“textandbeepsplaytoconfirmandtheSystemStatusIconsupdate.IfValetmode*isOn,thedoorslockandthe „VALET“textandtoneplay.ExitValetmodetoarmthealarmnormally.

IfatriggerzonefaultisdetectedthesirenchirpsonceagainandtheTriggerZoneFaultreport**plays.

To Arm and Panic – Press and hold The alarm Arms (or Locks in Valet) and, after 2 seconds,soundsthesirenandflashestheparkinglights.The„PANIC“ textandsirentonesplaytoconfirm.Pressthe or but-tontostoptheoutput.

Disarm – Press and release The alarm disarms, doors unlock (if connected), and the siren chirps andparking lights flash twice. The „DISARM“ textandbeepsplaytoconfirmandthesystemstatusiconsupdate. If Valet mode* is On, the doors unlock and the „VALET“textandtoneplay.

Morethan2sirenchirpsandremotebeepsindicateatriggerhasoccurred.The„DISARM“text isreplacedbytheAlarmreport.**

Runtime Reset (only 5606V) – Press and release Ifmoretime isneededwhile remotestart isactive, runtimeresetwill resettheruntimecountertothepre-programmedsetting.The„RUNTIME“ textandtonesplaytoconfirm.Thetextfieldwillupdateifsettodisplayruntime.

Temp Request – Press and hold the -button Requests the vehicle’s interior temperature and temporarilydisplaysitviastatusscreenicon andtextfield.

Sensor Bypass – Press and release Theparkinglightsflasheachtimethiscommandisreceivedto indicate the Sensor bypass type. Two flashes indicatessensorWarnawayzonesarebypassed.„BYPASS WARN“,onebeepandonefaulttoneplaytoconfirm.3flashesindicatessensorWarn-awayandFullTriggerzonesarebypassed.„BY-PASS FULL“,onebeepandtwofaulttoneplaytoconfirm.OneflashindicatessensorbypassisOff,„BYPASS OFF“ and onebeepplaytoconfirm.

Responder LC Configuration

Operations of the Responder LC and how it communicates messages are set in the configuration Main Menu.

Navigating menus and options Navigating menus and features, changing options, and exiting are performed using the remote control buttons.Thefollowinginstructionsdiscusshowtoaccessandconfig-ure the settings.

AUX 4 – Press and release Activates(orifOn,deactivates)theAux4output.The„AUX

CHANNEL“textandOntonesorOfftonesplaytoconfirm.

Defogger** (only 5606V) – Press and release ActivatesthevehicleDefoggercircuit(ifconnected)whileRe-moteStartisactivated.The„DEFOG ON“textandbeepsplaytoconfirmandtheRemoteStartstatusiconsupdate.Forconve-nience,theDefoggercircuitwillalsoautomaticallyactivate10secondsafterremotestartingifthetemperatureisbelow55°F.

There are severalways for theResponder LC to alert youwhen it has received a message from the system. „TONE VIBE“will alert by both emitting tones and vibrating theremote. Select „TONE“ to be alerted by tones that areuniqueforeachmessage.Select„VIBE“andtheResponderLCwill silentlyalert youwithagentlevibration,or select„SCREEN ONLY“whenyoudon’twanttobeinterrupted.

• Remote Start Info (only 5606V) Options:„RUNTIME“, „TEMP“, „CLOCK“

Thetextfieldcanbesettodisplaytheinformationyoupre-fer during remote start. „RUNTIME“:RemoteStartRuntime,„TEMP“:vehicleinteriorTemperature,orthe„CLOCK“ will bedisplayedinthetextfieldwhileRemoteStartison.

• Runtime Alert (only 5606V) Options:„ON“, „OFF“

The main unit will send a page to alert you when the runtime is about to expire.When set to „ON“, an alert isgenerated when the Remote Start Time-out message is received. When „OFF“, no alert output is emitted for the message.

• Car 2 Options:„OFF“, „ON“,„HOME“

Thisremotecancontroltwosystemsindependently.Whenset to „OFF“,theCar2selectoptionisnotavailable.Whenset to „ON“theremotecanbesettocontroltwosystems.The„HOME“optionisforpairingtoahomesecuritysystem.

Pair Remote RemotePair isaprocesswheretheResponderLCandthesysteminthevehiclelearneachothersencryptedidentifica-tion, securing their communication from intruders. Pleasenotethatyourremotecontrolscomepre-programmedfromthefactory.

Prepare the vehicle system to be Paired with a new remote

• Openatleastoneofthevehicle’sdoors.

• TurnthekeytotheOnposition.

• WithinfivesecondspressandreleaseonetimetheControlbuttonontheControlCenter.

Using the 1 way companion remote The companion 1way remote commands the system fea-turesasshownintheprevioustable,butwithoutthemes-sagedisplayoftheResponderLCremote.Sirenchirpsandparkinglightflashesareusedtoindicatethatacommandhas been received and activated as described in theBasic and Advanced command sections.

Full Silent Arm Protection SensorWarn-away, Sensor Full Trigger and Point of Entryactivations will only send messages to the remote, withparkinglightflashandsirenoutputsdefeated.

Sensor Warn-away Messages WhentheremotereceivesaSensorWarn-awaymessageitemits 10 beeps (if on) and displays a sensor zone specific„SENSOR WARN“textfor30seconds.Warn-awaymessagescannotbereviewedordisplayedinreports.

Emergency Override The following procedure disarms the systemwhen a pro-

grammedremoteisnotavailable.Numberofpresses______

• TurntheignitionOn.

• PressthecontrolbuttonontheControlCenterthecorrectnumberoftimes(thedefaultisonepress).

• Afterafewsecondsthesirenoutputceasesandthesystemis disarmed.

Asaprecaution,ifprogrammedforPassiveArmingorAutore-armingthesystemshouldbeplacedintoValetModeun-tilaremoteisavailable.

Trigger Zone Fault Report Whenarmedbyremotecommandthesystemrunsastatuscheck of the alarm trigger zones. Faulty zones (usuallycausedbydomelightdelayoropentrunk)arebypassedandreportedvia thecontrol centerLEDand remote,whileallothertriggerzonesremainactiveandaremonitoredtopro-tect the vehicle. Should a faulty zone self correct (domelight turns off) it becomes active and is then monitored normally.

The siren chirps once again a few seconds following thearming chirps as an audible alert, the control center LEDflashesingroupstoindicatethezonenumber.Theremotewillemitasinglefaulttoneandplayzonespecifictextthatidentifiesthefaultyzones.

Temperature Reporting DuringRemotestartthevehicleinteriorischeckedregularlyfor temperature changes. If a change in temperature is detectedthisreportwillbesenttotheremotefordisplay.Each time the remote receives this report it will beep, update, and display the newest temperature informationusingtheTemperatureGaugeicon.

Manual Transmission Start (MTS mode) When installed into a manual transmission vehicle, the system requires that theMTSmode is properly set whenparking.IfMTSmodeisnotproperlysetorisdefeatedafterbeingproperlysetthesystemwillnotstarttheengineandthe „REMOTE START ERROR“textandtonesplayasanalert.

• Withtheenginerunning,pressthefootbrakethensettheparkingbrakeandleavetheenginerunning.ForPitStoporTurboTimermode(toleavetheenginerunningafterarm-ing)openthedriverdoor.

• Release the foot brake. As long as the engine is runningthereisnotimelimittoperformthisstep.

• Within20secondsoffootbrakerelease,pressanycommand

buttonontheremote,after20secondsreturntoStep2(ForTurboTimerMode,presstheoptionaldashmountedactiva-tionbuttonorsendtheTimerModecommandfromtheAd-vancedStartmenuscreen).

Remote and System Operations

Passive Arming* Park and exit the vehicle, after the doors are closed the Passive arming countdownbegins. The led flashesquicklyandupon reaching20 seconds the siren thenchirpsonce. At30secondsthesystemarmsitself.

Anytimebeforethesystemarmsyoucanre-enterthevehicleoropenthetrunktoloadorunloaditemsand,afterclosingpassivearmingresumes.

Tostaysecureincaseofaccidentaldisarmingthesystem,ifadoorisnotopenedwithin30secondsthesystemre-armsitselfandlocksthedoors.

Auto Re-arming* Autore-armensuresthevehiclestaysprotectedif it isnotenteredafterdisarmingbyremotecontrol.Afterdisarmingbyremote,thealarmautomaticallyre-armsitself(andlocksthedoorsifprogrammedon)in30seconds.Openanypointofentrytostopthere-armuntilthenextdisarmbyremote.

Onetime Bypass* TurntheignitionOnforonetothreesecondsandthenOff.Thesirenchirpsoncetoconfirmone-timebypassisenabled.One-time bypass can be used to temporarily bypass the

Valet Mode Valetmodecanbeenteredandexitedbyperforming theRemoteValetcommandormanuallyusingthevehiclekeyandthecontrolbutton.Whenentered,thealarmfunctionsare defeatedwhile the convenience features still operatenormally.ArmandDisarmcommands lockandunlockthedoors while the „VALET“textandbeepsplaytoconfirm.

Use the following steps to manually enter and exit Valet Mode:

1. TurntheignitionswitchOnandthenOff

2. Immediatelypressandreleasethecontrolbuttononce

3. The control center LED turns On when entering and Offwhenexiting.

Power Save ToreducepowerconsumptionthecontrolcenterstatusLEDmodifiesitsoutputifthevehicleisparkedforanextendedperiod. If Armed the flashing is reduced after 24 hours.WhenValetmodeisOntheLEDwillturnoffonehourandwill reset each time the ignition is turned off.

Rapid Resume If power is everdisconnectedby amechanic or thief, thesystemwillresumethestateitwasinatthetimeofdiscon-nection,whenpowerisreconnected.

Automatic Remote Updates The system sends a silentmessage to all remote controls after any major action has occurred. When the remote receives this message it updates the status screen icons. This way all users are able to quickly review the system statusjustbyaccessingthestatusscreen.

Out of Range Eachtimeacommandisperformedtheremotewillexpect a command confirmation from the system. If a commandconfirmation is not received the out-of-range icon and afaulttonewillplayasanalert.

No Remote Output Occasionally when a command is performed the remotemaynotgenerateacommandconfirmationoutputorOutofRangeoutput.Thisindicatesthatthesystemreceivedthecommandbutitwasanincompletecommand(e.g.Auxbut-tonpressedtooshorttoactivatethetrunkrelease)oritwasanillegalmessage(e.g.thecommandwascorruptedduetolocal RF interference). These are temporary normal func-tions of the system and remote, perform the commandagainwithin10secondstoreturntonormaloperation.

To preserve power at critically low battery levels the ResponderLCturnsthepageroffandstopsreceivingmes-sagesfromthesystem. Itwillcontinuetocommandthesystemuntilthebatterycanbecharged.

Battery Life The Responder LC remote control has many features thatmakeitoneofthemostuniqueremotecontrolsonthemar-kettoday,includingsuperiorlongrangecommunicationwiththesystem.Thedefaultfeaturesettingsprovideforexcellentbatterychargeduration.However,tomaximizethisdurationbetweencharges,thefollowingsuggestionswillhelp:
