Amazing Season for Girls Touch Team

Last week the Girls Touch Football team competed

in round 6 of the PSSA Touch Football competition.

With a few players down our girls gave it their all but

unfortunately came out with a loss against Taree

West.

The KSPS team should be congratulated on making

it this far in the competition. We were again named

Upper Hunter champions and managed to make it a

round further than last year. Every player gave

100% in every game and their skills as a team

improved greatly throughout the season. They

should also be commended on their sportsmanship

ensuring they gave every team they played and the

referee a cheer at the end of every game.

A huge thank you goes to Geoff Simpson who

helped coach the team. His knowledge and skills

gave the team the extra push to ensure many

successes. We thank him for his time and efforts in

training the girls.

We look forward to another year of competition in

2018.

Mufti Day for Tye & Canteen Treat Day

Next Tuesday the 19th of September KSPS will be

holding a sports theme mufti day. We will be

fundraising to help Tye W in his quest to get to

Portugal to play soccer in the Iber Cup next June.

Tye was selected by Jobe Waterhouse to partake in

the 2018 squad and is very excited to be given this

once in a lifetime chance. All KSPS students are

welcome to wear their favourite sports team clothes

and bring along a gold coin donation.

This day the canteen will also be holding their treat

day. Any donations of baked goods would be greatly

appreciated and can be left at the office or at the

canteen. All treats for the day will be 50c and glee

cans will be available for $1.50.

Thank you for always supporting our wonderful

school and students.

Wellbeing of Students Valued

Please be aware that we have two immune-

suppressed students at our school. If your child

develops a contagious disease, please let the school

know ASAP so we can act accordingly.

Keeping our Students Safe

At King Street School we have a policy endorsed by

the HS Committee (Health and Safety) that no

animals are to be on school grounds. The only

exception would be if they are brought in for “Show

& Tell” and taken home immediately after by

parents.

It has been noticed recently that some parents are

bringing dogs to school with them when dropping off

and collecting children. We would ask that these

parents cease this practice for the safety of the

children at our school.

Thank you for your support.

Positions Vacant

The King Street P&C Association needs you! We are

currently looking for a new Vice President and as of the

beginning of 2018 we will need a new president,

treasurer and fundraising co-ordinator.

What does the P&C do?

The P&C is a great group of parents, grandparents, aunts,

uncles and school staff and teachers who work behind

the scenes to organise fundraising and school events

such as our amazing CRACKER NIGHT. We are also the

group responsible for Mother’s day and Father’s day

stalls. We then get together and decide what we can

spend the raised funds on to benefit the children of King

Street Public School.

Do you have an idea of what you would like to see at our

school? Come along to a meeting.

We meet on the first Monday of each month during the

school term, at 6pm in the school library. We hope to see

you there soon.

Urgent Help Needed!

Our dedicated Uniform Shop volunteers are seeking

any parents/caregivers who may be able to lend

them a hand.

The Uniform Shop is open Tuesday afternoons 2-

3pm and Thursday morning 9-10am. If you can help

out once a month or fortnightly please contact the

school office.

S3W

afternoon of Art

S3W have been studying the elements of art with Miss Donnelly on Tuesday afternoon.

This week they used their knowledge of how lines and colour can work together to make an

underwater scene using water colours, and a little bit of black paint.

Miss Williams and Miss Donnelly are proud of all the student’s efforts in making incredible pieces of

art.

1- First we used liquid water colour to create a wet on wet background.

2- Then we added in some bubbles and painted a black silhouette of a sea creature

on top.

3- The final creation, a beautiful underwater art work.

2018 Kindergarden Transition Program

We love seeing the smiles and enthusiasm of our Kinder Transition students as

they adapt to the friendly learning environment of King Street Public School.

The students are showing fantastic co-operation and listening skills and

enjoying many activities that include counting, cutting and colouring.

All our transition students are feeling proud in their ‘I am going to big

school at KSPS’ shirts. They are enjoying visiting lots of other areas within

our school including the back oval in the fabulous weather we are having. A

highlight was playing team working games including keeping the balls on this

parachute.

We look forward to watching our Kinder Transition students continue to enjoy

their time at King Street Public School.
