Dear Friends in Christ:
Each day our community gathers around the altar to celebrate the gift of the Eucharist, the Body and Blood of Christ. The word Eucharist means ‘thanksgiving’. As Catholics, we give thanks for the blessings that God has bestowed upon us, most especially for sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to show us the way, the truth and the life. The example of Christ calls us to be selfless disciples and good stewards of our time (prayer), talent (ministry) and treasure (finance). Throughout the year in this bulletin, you see how our parish family of Annunciation Catholic Church celebrates faith and discipleship. The financial report below provides you with a basic overview and accountability of how your generosity of prayer, ministry and finance is a living witness of Our Mission. Please keep in mind that numbers tell only part of our story. Our faith cannot be quantified and the call to discipleship and ministry lies in the hearts of God’s holy people. Taken individually, each activity our parish sponsors is significant. Collectively, we work together to build the Kingdom of God here on earth.
Annunciation Catholic Church
July 2016 - June 2017 Financial Summary
Fifty years ago, the Diocese of Orlando was created. As we celebrate the Golden Anniversary of our Diocese, Bishop Noonan has declared 2018 as a Year of the Eucharist. This presents an opportune time for our parish to focus our efforts and RENEW our commitment to our Catholic faith and discern how we have been called together as a Eucharistic people. During this year, we will focus on the Real Presence of Christ in our personal lives and in our parish community to answer the questions…
Who are we?
What do we do?
How do we do it? Thank you in advance for your commitment to renewal as the Holy Spirit leads us on a hope-filled journey.
As your Pastor, please know that I am most grateful to all who are dedicated to selfless stewardship of prayer, finance and ministry which contributes to the life of Annunciation Catholic Church. May God continue to inspire us to grow in our love for Him, the Church, our parish and the beauty of creation and may we meet each day in our prayers!
In Christ,
Very Rev. Stephen D. Parkes, V.F. Pastor

hYPe Youn Adult Ministr We know what you’re thinking, “What am I going to
do for Lent?” Let us help you with that! Due to the busy Lenten schedule at the parish which includes opportunities for Stations of the Cross every Friday night, we decided to do something different from our normal Friday schedule during the Season of Lent. We will be joining the other parishioners for the “Living the Eucharist” program, with our own young adult small groups. These nights will be an awesome opportunity for us to share our faith journeys, grow in our knowledge, and most importantly, bring us closer to God during Lent. Make sure to register, cost is $10: www.annunciationorlando.org/lent/ The first session is February 13, 7PM Tuesday, in the St. Gabriel Life Center For more information about hYPe please visit wwwannuciationorlando.org/hype

Gos el Reflections
February 4, 2018 - 5th Sunday in Ordinary Time For most of us, the dynamic between prayer and action is imperfect. Breakfast needs to be made and the kids dressed. Work demands our energy and additional responsibilities fill our evenings and weekends. Then there's the football game or a new TV series to stream. After all, don't we need to relax? We're all busy. But just imagine Jesus' situation in today's Gospel. He heals Peter's mother-in-law, drives out demons, and cures diseases late into the night. With very little sleep, he arises before dawn to capture some peace and quiet, only to find "those who were with him pursued him." How often do we feel pursued by the harried commitments, even when we try to seek rest? Perhaps we can learn something from the response of Jesus. Jesus models two key things: the essential nature of prayer and the essential call of vocation. "He went off to a deserted place, where he prayed." Despite inevitable exhaustion, Jesus prioritizes time with the Father. We might not have easy access to deserts and mountaintops, but today's Gospel challenges us to take intentional time set apart for God. We can designate a "prayer chair" in a corner of our home or leave a little earlier to pick our children up from school so we can snatch time in a nearby chapel. We can pray the rosary on our commute or take the dog for a long walk in silence. However, when the Apostles arrive, Jesus doesn't linger long in the deserted place or make an excuse for why he can't return with his friends. Jesus is true to his calling. He continues on in his state of life, serving the people nearest to him. Like Jesus, we are invited to set intentional time for communion with God so that we can be refreshed and empowered for our communion with others.
