The students were William Browning, Harold Hasting, Phillip Holz and Daniel Reed. They were accompanied by Richard Caliendo and RusseU Wygand. The subject of the lecture dealt with one oi the earliest experi- ments in nuclear physics , per- formed by Lord Rutherford in the early l900' s. Itwas presented by Dr. George J. Goldsmith as the first of a three-part series , spon- sored by the David Sarnoff Re- search Center Division of the Radio Corporation of America. This was only one of several dozen lecture-demonstrations presented each week In four New York City Schools under the spon- sorhlp of the Sarnoff Laboratory at Princeton, N.J. Patchogue and several other Long Island High Schools participated at the re- quest of the Sarnoff Center, in order to acquaint the students and science personnel with the program , which is being con- sidered for institution at the high school next year. Edmund W. Tuton , principal of Patchogue Senior High School, announces that Union College in Schenectady has granted scholar- ships to Frederick W. Davies, Jr., Joseph C. Valentine , Jr., and WUUam D. Toth. These stu- dents were awarded this scholar- ship for their fine academic and extra-curricular records whUe in secondary school. PATCHOGUE SENIOR HIGHOn AprU 22 , a group of Patch-

ogue High School science studentsparticipated in a lecture-demon-stration at Erasmus Hall HighSchool in Brooklyn. The students

were William Browning, HaroldHasting, Phillip Holz and DanielReed. They were accompanied byRichard Caliendo and RusseUWygand.

The subject of the lecture dealtwith one oi the earliest experi-ments in nuclear physics, per-formed by Lord Rutherford inthe early l900's. Itwas presentedby Dr. George J. Goldsmith as thefirst of a three-part series, spon-sored by the David Sarnoff Re-search Center Division of theRadio Corporation of America.

This was only one of severaldozen lecture-demonstrationspresented each week In four NewYork City Schools under the spon-sorhlp of the Sarnoff Laboratoryat Princeton, N.J. Patchogue andseveral other Long Island HighSchools participated at the re-quest of the Sarnoff Center, inorder to acquaint the studentsand science personnel with theprogram, which is being con-sidered for institution at the highschool next year.

Edmund W. Tuton, principal ofPatchogue Senior High School,announces that Union College inSchenectady has granted scholar-ships to Frederick W. Davies,Jr., Joseph C. Valentine, Jr.,and WUUam D. Toth. These stu-dents were awarded this scholar-ship for their fine academic andextra-curricular records whUein secondary school.
