INTRODUCTION

Starting off as the Hari Penyelidikan FKM 2011, for the year 2015, the event

was renamed as the Mechanical Engineering Research Day 2015 (MERD'15) to

give a more global image. The MERD’15 is organized by the Faculty of

Mechanical Engineering (FKM) in association with the Centre for Advanced

Research on Energy (CARe) of Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM),

which will take place at Kampus Teknologi, UTeM, Melaka on 31 March 2015.

The theme of MERD'15 is "Pioneering Future Discovery", while the objective is

for the scientists, scholars, researchers and students from UTeM to present

findings of on-going research or work. The other objective is to introduce and

promote the UTeM research activities in the scientific field of mechanical

engineering through poster presentations and publications, to offer mentoring

through senior researchers and scientists, and to foster the building of

networks through the informal style of the event.

During MERD’15, 74 posters will be presented, where the short papers have

been published in the Open Access e-Proceedings (eISBN: 978-967-0257-51-8)

via www3.utem.edu.my/care/proceedings. The e-Proceedings will be indexed

in Google Scholar and will also be submitted to Thomson Reuters (formerly

known as ISI) Conference Proceedings Citation Index™ for indexing

consideration in Web of Science® coverage.

Authors of MERD’15 may proceed with the submission of high quality full-

length papers for publication in special issues in one of our supporting indexed

journals, subject to their normal peer-review procedures. The journals are:

(a) Jurnal Teknologi (Sciences and Engineering) - indexed by SCOPUS

(b) Journal of Mechanical Engineering and Technology - indexed by MyCite

(c) Journal of Engineering and Technology - indexed by MyCite
