Striving ahead through Excellence………………….

Today`s gl0balised world the sports scientists are relentlessly exploring new

possibilities for excellence in every sports disciplines and physical education. The

excellence in a sports discipline is the sum of four important aspects. Adequate

infrastructure, scientific training, correct technics and unpredictable tactics, which leads

a sportsman to excellence.

Present generation is very much aware of the importance of maintaining the physical

health at every stage of life through sporting activities. Various means have been

suggested as keys to improve one`s well-being, but the fact of psychological stability is

still too often down played, either because its importance is not fully recognized or there

is no known way of strengthening the stability.

The high throttled world takes its toll on today’s children in the form of various kinds’

of academic and social stresses that make their life miserable. Playing various sports for

recreation or professionally can impart key benefits to overcome the above stresses.

High performing athletes and coaches today recognized the importance of stress

relieving techniques to prepare themselves for excellence.

Adequate knowledge of coaches as well as the students in all aspect of performance and

training is necessary to get positive results. Positive thinking is very effective in sports; it

can be allied with the phrase “will to win and play to win”

Keeping all these aspects in mind, Mahatma Education Society`s Sports Control Board

has systematically set its goal in the right direction. The academics year 2013-14 was a

year of great achievements to Mahatma Education Society`s Sports arena. To

incorporate the result producing innovative methods of modern sports training, the

infrastructure with the Mahatma Education Society has played a vital role and certainly

made positive changes in the field of sports performance.

The MES sports control board in association with Sports Authority of India

continue with its talent identification program in search of identifying sports talents at

various part of Raigad district which considered a place of hidden talents. The board

also starts conducting regular training programs in disciplines such as Gymnastics,

Roller Skating, Swimming, Boxing etc and it is in addition to its existing program of

Football, Volleyball, Taekwondo, Rifle shooting and Athletics. The Board also planned to

start a Football training program at Rasayani and another Table Tennis training

program at New Panvel. The new attraction is a program on general fitness for elders,

also on the way to take its shape, which is planned to conduct at New Panvel.

The beautified Adventure picnic site at Apta Phata is attracting many as the

program now start functioning under Mahatma Sports Club and start organizing

trekking and entertain event like rain dance etc in addition to the existing adventure

courses. Our projects on soccer training and Gymnastics at Panvel & Gorai are running

smoothly as both the centers start producing result at junior level. It is the bounded duty

of any responsible institution to be active and kept itself abreast with changing scenario

both on and off the field of sports & physical education. Achieving these goals Mahatma

Education Society has conducted various refreshers training for its sports Instructors &

coaches.

Mahatma Education Society`s Inter institutions sports & games championships,

a round the year event which covers 8 sporting discipline is a great hit among the

schools and colleges and it is a great success because of mass participation. The sporting

events for its staff also attract many and the participation is overwhelming. Large

number of staff members from all the institutions participated in the events with much

hype & fanfare.

The MES sports control board welcomes the academic year 2014-15 with great

enthusiasm as our students start actively participating at international venues. The

Mahatma Education society conveys all the best wishes to its sports personnel for a

successful academic year 2014-15.

The Shining Stars of Pillai Sports 2013-14

1. Ayonika Paul: Ace shooter and BE(EXRTC) student of PIIT-New Panvel remains in the news for her successful tourneys in India and abroad. She was crowned with Asian Championship Bronze medal, All India Masters Gold medal, Senior National Championship Gold and also represented the Country in the world cup Rifle Shooting at USA. Presently ranked No.1 in senior women category of India and World ranking No.29.Ayonika Paul also awarded with “ Shiv Chhatrapati Puraskar”- the prestigious Maharashtra Govt award for the excellence.

2. Gopal Mhatre: B.PEd student of Vidhyadhiraja College of Physical Education & Research won the National Gold Medal in Shotokan Karate and represent Indian in Asian Championship and won Gold medal in the tournament. He also represented the country in the World Karate Championship.

2. Tejas Karle: First year BCom student of Pillai college of Arts, Commerce and Science won the Asian Junior Rifle Shooting Championship Bronze at Nanchang,China. He also represented India at a tournament held at Iran.

4. Riya Pillai: Second year B Com student of Pillai college of Arts, Commerce & Science made headlines in the news media by selected herself into the Indian National Badminton squad for tournaments at Maldives, Bahrain and Australia. The state champion of Maharashtra also ranked No.4th in India.

5. Aliana Paul: FE(Auto) student of Pilai Institute of Information Technology-New Panvel made us proud by winning Gold Medal in National Youth Shotgun trap Rifle Shooting Championship. She also selected into the Indian probable camp for Asian games.

6. Prathik Deshmukh: First Year MSC(IT) student of PCACS made us proud by winning National Bronze, West zone Silver and State Gold in the 10M Rifle Shooting Championship.

7. Roshan R Shelke: a 10th Std student of Mahatma School of Academics and Sports made the school proud by winning National Bronze medal and State Gold medal in Wushu(Marshal Arts competition held at Delhi and Nagpur respectively.

8. Vishal V Lokhare : 12th Std student Pillai HOC International School won

Silver medals in 110 High Hurdle at Junior State Athletics Championship and West

zone Athletics meet. He also stood 4th place in National Inter zone Athletics meet

and Junior National Athletics meet.

09. Radha Joshi:. 12th Std student of Pillai HOC International School won the

State Gold medal, West zone National Silver medal and National Inter zone Bronze

medal in 400 Low Hurdle in the year 2013.

10. Diptesh Utekar: 11th Std student of Pillai HOC International School made us

proud by winning Jr State Athletics Championship silver medal and West zone

National Athletics championship 100 meter Bronze medal.

11. Vinayak Upadhyay: 12th Std student of Pillai HOC International School

Won the Silver medal at State Junior Volleyball Championship held at Jalna. He also

selected in to the State team for the National Championship and played in the first

Six during Junior National Championship held at Dehradun.

12. Vithhal R Karve: 12th Std student of Pillai HOC International School won

the silver medal at State Junior Volley ball Championship and also played Junior

Nationals championship ar Dehradun from Maharashtra Squad.

13. Dishant Rawat: 12th Std student of Pillai HOC International School won

the silver in the Junior State Volleyball Championship and also played School

National Volley ball Championship and National Gramin Youth Volleyball

Championship.

14. Jaydeep Holgar: 12 th Std student of Pillai HOC International School won

the silver medal in State Junior Volleyball Championship and also played in the

Gramin National Volley ball Championship and School National Volleyball

Championship.

15. Jagjeet Singh: First Year M Com student of PCACS won the silver medal at

Mumbai University Football Championship were 246 colleges competed for the title.

He also represented Mumbai University in West Zone National University Football

Meet and won Runners-up position.

16. Rahul Thakur : First Year B Com student of PCACS captained the college Football team to a silver medal glory in Mumbai University Football championship and also won Silver medal at West Zone National University Meet. He also played for Mumbai University team in the National Varsity Football Championship held at Kerala.

17. Aniket Dhuri : Third year B Com student PCACS played as a Vice –Captain of college team in the Mumbai University Football Championship and won Silver medal. Selected for Mumbai University team in the All India West Zone Universities Championship and placed Runners-up in the tourney. This is followed by his selection in the All India Universities Football Championship.

18. Nazeef Mohammed: Second year B Com student of PCACS represent the

college in Mumbai University soccer tournament followed by West zone varsities

tournament and both place he settled with silver medal. Also played all Indian

Varsities Football tournament at Kerala.

19. Deepak Irmani: Second year B Com student of PCACS won the silver medal

of Mumbai University football tournament followed by his selection into the

University squad and won Runners-up title at West Zone University title. Deepak

also selected to play All India University Football Tournament at Kerala.

20. Vaibhav Karpe : Second year B Com student of PCACS represented Mumbai

University Mumbai University in the west Zone Universities Championship and

adjudged with Runners-up position. He also played All India University

championship at Kerala

21. Aman Seena : Third year B Com student of PCACS represented Mumbai

University in the west zone Universities Hand Ball Championship and placed Third

in the tournament.

22. Vishal Maphankar : First year M Com student of PCACS represented

Mumbai University in West Zone Universities Baseball Championship and placed

Runners-Up. He also participated in the All India Universities Baseball

Championship.

23. Varsha D Metkari : Student of Vidhyadhiraja College of Physical Education

and Research represented the Mumbai University in the West Zone Universities

Hand Ball Championship and placed Runners-up in the tournament. She also played

All India University Hand ball Championship 2013-14. In addition to this She also

won Siver medal in Mumbai University Wrestling championship and Gold medal in

University Fencing championship.
