The Marionette (Puppet) & The Black Light TheatersThe Marionette or Puppet theatre enjoys a long tradition in popular entertainment in Prague and around the Czech Republic. The master puppeteers’ creations are true gems of artistic craftsmanship. The National Marionette Theatre presents the finest puppet shows in the country. Performances include puppet versions of Mozart’s famous “Opera of operas”, Don Giovanni, and the enchanting story of the Magic Flute. Both are extraordinary productions, employing very tall puppets clothed in period costumes, set against 18th century stage sets. The story is recounted visually, with little or no spoken words. This makes the shows ideal for an international audience, of both adults and children. The Black Light Theater or simply Black Theater is a per-formance characterized by the use of black box theatre augmented by black light illusion. The distinctive characteristics of “The black theatre” are the use of black curtains, a darkened stage, and “black lighting” (UV light), paired with fluorescent costumes in order to create intricate visual illusions. The technique, paired with the expressive artistry of dance, mime and acrobatics of the performers is able to create remarkable spectacles. The Black Theater is known throughout the Czech Republic, and many Czechs usually want to bring their families to a show at least once. This ensures a mixed audience of Czech people and tourists.

Budapest, a famous “City of Spas”One of the reasons the Romans first colonized the area and established their regional capital at Aquincum (now in northern Budapest) is so that they could enjoy the thermal springs. The new baths that were constructed during the Turkish period (1541–1686) served both for bathing and medicinal purposes, and some of these are still in use to this day. Budapest gained its reputation as a “City of Spas” in the 1920s, following the first realization of the economic potential of the thermal waters. Construction of the Király Baths started in 1565, and most of the present-day building dates from the Turkish period. The Rudas Baths are centrally placed and also an outstanding example of architecture during Turkish period. The prestigious Gellért Baths and Hotel (1918) have a well-preserved Art Nouveau interior including colourful mosaics, marble columns, stained glass windows and statues. The Lukács Baths are also in Buda and are also Turkish in origin. The Széchenyi Baths (1913) are one of the largest bathing complexes in all Europe with 15 indoor pools, 3 outdoor pools and 10 saunas and steam chambers. There is an atmosphere of grandeur about the whole place with the largest pools resembling Roman baths and the smaller bath tubs reminding one of the bathing culture of the Greeks.

Introducing BudapestBudapest is as few European cities a river city. It is divided into two parts by the great Danube, “Buda” the old medieval city on the hill; and “Pest” which is the expansion of the unified Budapest when it became the second capital of the em-pire after Vienna. The city itself draws the visitor with its beauty and grandeur. In Budapest are the largest Parliament in Europe and the oldest subway of the continent’s mainland. It is also the only European capital with over than one hundred thermal springs and 12 Public baths. After a full day visiting the city, relaxing in a hot pool will get you back on your feet with renewed energy. Budapest is not only the capital of a nation, but an imperial city full of extraordinary examples of fine architecture and high end museums.

Discover the Prussian pomp and splendor, a heritage of great architects and scholars, and a focal point during the Cold War: Potsdam offers a breathtaking panorama of culture and history. 300 years ago, the garrison outpost of Potsdam was transfor-med into one of Europe’s most splendid royal cities. The Prussian kings, in particular Frederick William I and his son Frederick the Great, created a baroque dream in Potsdam and the surrounding area, to which their successors added great monuments to classicism. In 1990 the Palaces and Parks of Potsdam were awarded UNESCO World Heritage status – at that time still at the request of the two rival German states. The original site comprised the parks and palaces of Sanssouci, Neuer Garten, Babelsberg, Glienicke and Peacock Island. In 1992 the UNESCO site was extended to include Sacrow Palace and park and Sa-viour’s Church, while in 1999 another 14 monuments joined the list, including Lindstedt Palace and park, Belvedere Palace on Pfingstberg hill, Kaiserbahnhof station. No visit to Potsdam will be complete without a trip along the city waterways. Also you can join a boat trip from Berlin to Potsdam (approx. 1 hour).

Splendor of the Bavarian Palaces and CastlesKing Ludwig II not only left his mark, he also played a huge role in the fame of Bavarian buildings with his famous fairytale palaces known and loved the world over. But that’s not all: a whole array of famous names from the world of architecture from all epochs through the ages have left a legacy of magnificent buildings across the state for the visitor’s to enjoy. Just to men-tion few of them: Munich Residenz: The palace’s state rooms and art collections, form one of the largest museum complexes in Bavaria. Nymphenburg Palace: Was built from 17th-19th century as a summer residence for the Bavarian Electors and Kings. Neuschwanstein Castle: Was built for King Ludwig II between 1869 and 1886 on a rugged cliff against a scenic mountain back-drop, was intended to “embody the true spirit of the medieval German castle”. Linderhof Palace: The “Royal Villa” of Ludwig II, originated as a hunting lodge belonging to his father Maximilian II - the “Königshäuschen”. The Imperial Castle of Nuremberg, built by the Salian monarchs and enlarged by Friedrich Barbarossa and his successors, is one of the most important medieval imperial castles. Würzburg Residenz: The former residence of the prince bishops of Würzburg, built between 1720 and 1744 and completed in 1780, is one of the most important palaces in Europe and has been designated a UNESCO world heritage site.

Introducing MunichThe third largest German city, Munich, is today’s capital of Bavaria State. Despite all its sophistication, Munich still retains a touch of provincialism that visitors find so charming. The city is an inspiring mix of historic buildings and impressive architecture where four grand royal avenues of the 19th century with magnificent official buildings connect the inner city with the suburbs. Two large baroque palaces in Nymphenburg and Oberschleissheim are reminders of Bavaria’s royal past. During the Oktoberfest representatives of the entire planet arrive in town. In Munich, folklore and age-old traditions exist side by side with tidy BMWs, designer boutiques and high-powered industry. Nearby you can discover the wonderful castles of King Ludwig II: the solid Ho-henschwangau, his boyhood home; the nearby and fanciful Neuschwanstein, his dream escape; and Linderhof, his final retreat.
