Adoration & Reconciliation
Dear friends in the Lord, On April 26, St. Teresa of Avila will welcome Bishop Robert McClory as he imparts the sacrament of Confirmation on our high school students and several college students. Because of the size of the class, there will be two Masses that evening—one at 5:30 pm and the other at 7:30 pm. This means that there will not be our
regularly scheduled daily Mass on that Monday. Please pray for all of our Confirmation candidates. Confirmation is kind of an interesting sacrament. In today’s day and age, there are many people who see Confirmation as a kind of graduation that marks the end of religious education classes. That is absolutely incorrect! If we had to boil down the sacrament to a single phrase, it is that Confirmation is a commissioning by the Holy Spirit to go out into the world and proclaim the Gospel. With that said, Confirmation isn’t the end of anything; it is the beginning of taking your mission by Christ more seriously. It stirs into flame the Holy Spirit who dwells within us so that we have the gifts we need to help others encounter the good news of Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, who brings new life to all. May each and every one of us, renew our own Confirmation as these candidates receive the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Faithfully Yours in the Lord, Fr. Chris

Stewardship
Tithing As individuals we are called to be good and generous stewards with God’s manifold gifts. Tithing is the means whereby we have the opportunity to give thanks to God; with that in mind, the community of St. Teresa of Avila tithes weekly. This week we will tithe to Big Shoulders Fund—NWI. Our contribution is helping to provide a quality, values-based education for Chicago’s children, thereby contributing to stronger communities and preparing students for life-long success.
