Clas History When we. tarted out m the ninth grade we had one-hundreu and twenty-three 111 our class . We had Jody Adams, Cob Collins,

Tom Ball, Jim Sparks, Btlly Fyffe, Bobby New, and Toddy Ward on the football team. Marvin Williams, Tom Ball, Jody Adams, Bobby New, and Jack Bartram on the basketball team. Our cheerleaders were Janet Cox, Linda Patton, Ahce Queen, and Joyce Ball. Our class officers were Toddy Ward, Jolly Adams, Judy Haywood, anu Janet Cox. Our candidates for King and Queen at the fall carnival were Barbara Shannon and Lester Ball.

In the tenth grade we had one-hundred and eleven in the class. We had Jolly Adams, Cob Collins, Tom Ball, Jim ~1oore, Jim Sparks, Tommy D. Collinsworth, Charles Workman, Robert Crabtree, Harold Green, Toddy Ward, and Ned Compt0n on the football team this year. Marvin Williams, Tom Ball, Jody Adams, Bobby New, Leslie Nelson, Tommy D. Collinsworth, and Jack Bartram, were on the basketball team. Leslie elson, Bobby New, 'I om Ill) D. Collinsworth, Paul Jordan, Harold Gene Johns, and Toddy Ward were on the baseball team and Jack Bartram was a manager. The cheerleaders from our class were Janet Cox, and Joyce Ball. Our class officers were Ned Compton, Todd) Ward, Leslie Nelson, and Bobby New. Our candidates for Kmg and Queen were Alice Cox and 'ed Compton. They were elected to the throne this year. This was the year that Janet and Ahce Cox had their two big slumber parties. Thirty-six girls were present at the first one and twenty-three at the second. A floor show was presented at the first one by Janet and Alice Cox, Judy Haywood, anu

some other girls. When we reached the eleventh grade we had the small number of eighty left in our class. fhis year we had Jody Adams,

Thts )Car our class put on the play, "Worrying Willie", and the cast were as follows: Mary Lou Bush, Marcella Chambers, Bill Jackson, Jim Sparks, Jody Adams, Jannie Lynn Smith, Jim 1oore, Darlene Young, J;lnet Cox, Judy Haywood, Tommy D. Colhnsworth, and Janice Hardm. The managers were Betty Butler and Tennie Skaggs. Our class officers were Jannie Lynn Smith, Tom Ball, and Avanelle ~1oore. The delegates to Girls State were Betty Butler, Louise Booth, Avanelle Moore, ]annie Lynn Smith, and Violet Cyrus. The candidates for King and Queen were Joyce Ball and Tommy David Collinsworth. Violet Cyrus and Earl Thompson were elected Farm Bureau Kmg and Queen. The last day of school this 1ear Rosemary Birkhead, Mackie Roberts, Albert Akers, Jim Moore, and Violet Cyrus made up enough money to buy the gas for Tom Ball's "38" chevrolet so they could go to Carter Caves. They rolled back in at Russ Whe~ler's filling station that night completely out of ga . Were you at commencement exercises when John Pannell yelled, "llo\,·dy, Alva", during prayer?

We have now reached the twelfth grade and have only seventy-six left to graduate. This year Jody Adams, Charlie Jones, Tom Ball, Tommy D. Collinsworth, Albert Akers, Cob Collins, JimMoore, and Jim Sparks, were on our football team and all received letters and jackets at the end of the season. Marvin Williams, Leslie 'elson, Bob y 'ew, Tommy D. Collinsworth, Tom Ball, Jody Adams, and Charlie Jones, were on the basketball team and all received letters at the end of the season and the ones that didn't receive football jackets received basketball jackets. Cob Collins and Jim Sparks were basketball managers. Janet Cox, ~lackie Roberts, Violet Cyrus, and Joyce Ball were our cheerleaders this year. We put on the senior play, "Stranger in the Night", this year, and the cast was as follows: Lester Ball, Judy Haywood, Freeman Roberts, Jannie Lynn Smith, Joyce Ball, Mary Lou Bush, Sarah Salisbury, Marcella Chambers, Jody Adams, Tommy D. Collinsworth, Janice Hardm, and Jim Moore. Of cour e, none of us could forget the afternoon after the play when mot of the cheerleaders, the play cast and a few others skipped. from then till the end of the school our cheerleaders were called ex-cheerleaders. And the rest of us avoided chairs for a while. We didn't have a sneak day but went to Carter Caves for a picnic! Our candidates for King and Queen were Janet Cox and John Pannell. Violet Cyrus and Tom Ball were elected Farm Bureau King and Queen this year. Our class officers were Tommy D. Collinsworth, Lester Ball, Charles Workman, and Janet Cox. Our valedictorian is Lee Arrington, and salutatorian is ~larcella Chambers. Our ten honor students are Lee Arrington, Marcella Chambers, ]annie Lynn Smith, Albert Lee Akers, Betty Butler, Mary Lou Bush, Tennis Faye Skaggs, Harold Gene Johns, Tommy David Collinsworth, and Violet Cyrus. Mary Branham, Marcella Cham ers, and Jannie Lynn Smith were candidates for Miss Lawrence County and Jannie Lynn was elected. This was the year that Mrs. Jordan's sixth period government class painted a mustache on George Washington with lipstick, and loosened the lig!u bulbs . Troy, the janitor, came in the next day and worked for about half a day on the light switch trying to fix it and he found nothing wrong. Were you around the time Tom Ball went to Sandy's house to show her the trophy he had won and came back out and didn't have a car? He notified the cops that his car had been stolen and had ever} cop in rown looking for it and walk­ed down past Curtright's Funeral Home and there it sat; some friends he had!

Professor James F. ~1oore, a famous scientist, has been working for months on a proJect to remove his greasy spot. Jesse Moore, Fallsburg's demon of the waves, is now teaching swimming lessons at the Fallsburg pool. John Pannell is now happily married and owner of Pannel's Pontiac. Bobby New has gotten enough nerve together to run for Lawrence County Supenntendent of Schools. Everyone was sorr} to hear about the city's most tragic mistake as James D. Moore was mistaken for Tab Hunter and mob ed. hl,ary Lou Bush has just been named phy ical education teacher of the year. J_ey Holbrook is still in Mr • Jordan's room, it kind a seems as though no one has the nerve to wake him . Patricia Kell}: is secretary for the Kentucky Finance Company. The big game hunter, Jim SP.arks, is in Africa, hunting quail, of course. Earl Thompson, the worlds most famous skunk trainer has recently been assigned a new assistant, Ralph Webb. Charles Workman is still holding his regular meetings near the railroad JUSt over the bridge. After breaking five engagements Lina Miller started building her house in "57'" and is no\.; nearly fimshed. Irene Sturgill is now the wife of a U.S. Army General.
