Hazy, Unfiltered. Racy lemon, lime and mineral aromas display admirable clarity and pick up a subtle floral quality with air. Firm and dry, offering vivid citrus and pear flavors underscored by chalky minerals. Clings to the palate and finishes with a strong echo of minerals and a jolt of lime zest. A very different Narince, from a cool region in Thrace. Second day, the wine has developed some nice white lily aromas. Freshness and citrus flavors still there. Do you find this review helpful? The nose of the wine is opening with fizzy lemon, which gives an idea about the mineral structure of same and then followed by lemon peel, apples, pear like stone fruits and sweet melon aromas. Some chalky mineral notes at the same time. Medium-bodied. It does possess a good freshness with a slight oily texture. Enough concentrated. Along with close neighbours Arcadia (who do not yet bottle their Narince), Chamlıja is responsible for the plantings in the Thrace so this is the first outcome of the variety’s potential in the region. The wine has a pale brass colour with copper highlights and shades of green. Initial notes of intense lime and grapefruit is followed by hints of white blossom once you swirl, all under a chalky, mineral frame. Bright, juicy acidity has full command over the attack sufficiently supported by a rigid core of citrus fruit and mineral richness. Despite the moderate astringency that reveals itself towards the end the wine has a long, insistent finish with a lovely bergamot aftertaste. This is not typical for the Narince profile as we know it which is why it will be interesting to follow the progress of the variety in this rather cool climate under the hands of Chamlıja who does not use oak and allow malo for this bottling.
