Theme or focus of images

What I see in each photos are big landscape pictures of a sunset lake with big distant mountains. I see mist beyond the mountains which I think the photographer had waited for that perfect moment for the clouds to break so the sunshine can glisten down and create a foggy blanket resting on the mountains. I also see weed or tall grass pushed to side off the photo, it has been darkened to show the picture has been more focused on the reflected lake and mountains. I don’t know exactly when this photo had been taken but by observing the weathering and colour of the sky my guesses are that the date would have been around summer/ autumn time. What all these pictures have in common is that the photographer focuses on single objects in each one off the photos, also the sun is setting in a majority of the pics

Composition

I think the photographer maybe stood on the lakes pier because just at the bottom of the photo there is a little pole peeping up, so I reckon the photographer has zoomed in to not have the pier ruin the shot. Also the pier could have messed with the colour correction of the lakes reflection on the camera. I think that he had found the right angle to show that the lake is the main object in this picture.

Techniques used

As the lighting in this photo is getting dark I think he would have used a higher number of shutter speed to capture more light into the picture. He has used depth of field on the mountains to bring them out of the picture and blurring the foreground of any unneeded objects contrasts the colours of the sunset. Observing the light and depth of field I think he would have used a high F-stop as there isn’t that much of a blur used in the photo so I would think he would have used an f-stop of around f/9. He has used rule of thirds to emphasise the background and the sunset to collaborate the colours with the objects.

Strengths & Weaknesses

What you do and don't like and how it can influence your work

There are many things I like about this photograph one for example would be the range of colours, I like how they all mix together and combine it makes the picture stand out and catches your eyes. This could influence my work because I think landscape photos are very unique in different ways, and the use of the sunset to contrast a multiple of different colours works well with these types of photographs.
