CCC Primary Responsibilities

Ensures that all Sailors are given every opportunity to develop their careers to the fullest potential.

Acts as a CDP Manager:Provides proper direction,

development, and training of CDT. Is responsible to the CO and CMC/COB

for all matters related to CDP and policies.

An effective program: Is a result of a coordinated effort of the

entire chain of command.Uses all the elements in the CCH.Uses OPNAVINST 1040.11(series) as a

stand-alone document to for all Navy commands.

CDP Management Procedure

Discuss the career information program and its benefits to command leadership.

Conduct initial and annual reviews of the CDP program as outlined in the CCH, Appendix A.

Ensure command has an active, trained CDT. Replace and train new CDT members as Sailors rotate.

Assign a counselor for every 30 Sailors.

Solicit ISIC/Type Commander (TYCOM) support as necessary.

Ensure CDT members understand the value of customer service.

Ensure CDT members complete NAVEDTRA 14056, Navy Customer Service Manual.

Identify all Sailors whose EAOS or PRD is within the next 15 months.

Privacy:Ensure the Career Counselor has

access to a space suitable for private counseling so Sailors do not feel reluctant to discuss problems.

Tickler files: Use as an invaluable tool to plan,

schedule, and track Career Development Program (CDP) activities.

Establishing an annual budget is an essential component of an effective Career Development Program (CDP).

One of the first priorities should be a careful review of the CCC budget, which should be updated annually.
