Professional Development

• Career Services -Talent Management System (TMS) can be used to post your resume for positions at all levels in some of the best companies in the IT Industry

• Professional Development - Webinar Series, certification study groups, and other offerings

• PMI REP – Professional Development Units (PDUs) can be provided by BDPA as an approved Registered Education Provider (REP) of PMI

• Executive Protégé Program – ITSMF’s mentoring program to build the next generation of IT Leaders

Community Outreach

• SITES – Student Information Technology Education and Scholarship Programs The SITES Initiative is designed to introduce students in grades K-12 of African-American descent and underserved communities to the field of Information Technology through computer training, by encouraging them to seek higher levels of education and grooming many of them to become the next generation of IT Professionals.

Community Outreach

• Black Family Technology Awareness WeekCareer Communications Group (CCG), with generous support from IBM Corporation, has sponsored Black Family Technology Awareness Week — a nationwide campaign designed to help black families, small and medium-sized minority businesses, and community organizations maximize their opportunities to access technology and address the issues of technological literacy.

BDPA is a national sponsor of this event. Local BDPA chapters schedule events during BFTAW and are eligible to apply to CCG for grants.

BDPA IT Institute at Auburn University

• Institute Academic Chair: Juan Gilbert, Ph.D., Auburn University

• Started Classes Fall 2006 with the IT Professional Certification

• Two Courses offered per semester

• Application requires approval

• Administered through Auburn’s Distance Learning Program via WebCT and Blackboard

BDPA IT Institute at Auburn University

• Three (3) BDPA Certificationso IT Associate – Leadership for Technology Team Leaders o IT Professional – Leadership for Technology Managerso IT Master – Leadership for Technology Executives

• Project Managemento PMP Exam Prep – Earn 35 PDUs

• All Courses are graded and provide CEUs and/or PDUs depending on the course

• 2009 Scheduleo Winter 2009 – January 19th through April 24th o Spring 2009 – May 11th through August 14th

o Winter 2009 – September 7th though December 11th

BDPA IT Corps

The BDPA IT Corps is a program that is characterized by connectivity on an international level - through computer technology as well as by establishing direct social ties. It is designed to work hand in hand with the SITES/HSCC program and the BDPA IT Showcase. Its mission is to broaden the experiences and professional preparation of its participants through exchanges of technology and cultural knowledge that addresses community issues in the United States and in developing countries.

Major components of the BDPA IT Corps are:• Technology sharing, creativity support and establishing relationships • Local community recognition and via the internet, recognition

throughout BDPA and its stakeholders• Travel to special locations for hands on cultural learning experiences• Finally, ongoing contact that will culminate in participation at BDPA

annual conferences and in BDPA international computer competitions

Student Eligibility:• Students who have participated in a national HSCC and their team

placed either 1st through 5th place, are eligible for selection to the BITC. As requests for additional BITC visits increase, students from other HSCC teams may be selected for participation.

Entrepreneur Advisory Group

The Entrepreneur Advisory Group addresses the unique needs of the entrepreneur within the BDPA organization. Our goal is to assist the BDPA entrepreneurs with programs, policies and opportunities that will allow them to continue to grow both in knowledge and influence.
