Jim & John will have a conversation about why is it so hard to get Lean to stick. Why do so many start up, but only last for a few years? What do successful companies do? What do we need to think of differently today?

Mr. Imai worked closely with Taiichi Ohno, who developed the Toyota Production System – now called lean thinking. Mr. Imai was first to tell about this remarkable leadership principles in several books. Founder of Kaizen Institute.

OPTIONALTWI SUMMIT

TWI Job Relations (JR): Building positive employee relations, increasing cooperation and motivation, and effectively resolving conflictJob Relations teaches the foundations of positive employee relations. Developing and maintaining these good relationships prevents pro-blems from arising and is paramount to earn loyalty and cooperation from others. When problems do arise, Job Relations teaches a proven method of getting the facts, weighing options, deciding, taking action, and checking results.Benefits experienced from practicing Job Relations include increased productivity, improved attendance, better morale, and higher employee retention rates.

TWI Job Instruction (JI): Quickly training employees to do a job correctly, safely, and conscientiouslyJob Instruction is designed to develop basic stability of your processes (standard work). This program teaches the method to instruct an operator how to perform a job correctly, safely and conscientiously. As is frequently the case, most processes are performed by various workers using different methods. Job Instruction requires you identify the “one best way”, teach the process to this one way, and thereby creates a standard methodBenefits experienced when practicing Job Instruction are reduced training time, less scrap and rework, fewer accidents, and increased job satisfaction.

TWI Job Methods (JM):Improving the way jobs are done for continual improvementJob Methods will enhance most team based continuous improvement programs by delivering a high volume of small incremental impro-vements from individuals. Job Methods provides a system to get the most out of manpower, machines and materials currently available. It conditions and develops individuals to breakdown a job to its details and eliminates wasteful tasks, combines and rearranges necessary tasks and simplifies those tasks that are required.Job Methods yields significant benefits including reduced cost through productivity gains, increased throughput, and reduced work in process.
