Creating unique infographics

A picture is worth a thousand words. This saying is at its best when considering infographics. They can be an excellent way to visualize tons of information at one glance. Not only are they more esthetically appealing than several paragraphs of text, they are also much faster at conveying information. Making a really good and unique infographic can be more difficult than it looks – crafting one yourself using Photoshop can and will take up to several hours.

Thankfully, we live in a wonderful age where we can experience and utilize a lot of great products without spending a penny. As far as infographic creation is concerned, there are a lot of tools out there and some of them are extremely good. We’ve made a list of our four personal favourites all with different pros and cons to get you started.

1) Piktochart

Piktochart might just be the best looking infographic and presentation tools out there. It is also where you should go are a beginner, wanting to learn about how and why content can be created in a visual way. Its intuitiveness is where Piktochart really shines. It gives you a lot of tip on effective usage on infographics and guides you through the process with excellent tips. Like every other tool on this list, it has a free version, but compared to the rest its $29 PRO package is rather costly.

2) Visme

Visme is another stunningly beautiful tool for creating infographics. It has a bunch of content you can access right away and allows you to create visual masterpieces from the door. Visme offers the option of changing data within the charts, which adjust themselves accordingly. However, the free basic version has some disadvantages that might discourage you to use it, depending on what you’re looking for. If you use Visme for free, your graphics have to include its logo and you can only have 3 projects at once. If that doesn’t bother you however, definitely look into it. There is also a standard version with more freedom for $4 and the whole experience comes with a price tag of $14.25 per month.

3) Easel.ly

Easel.ly offers a lot for those of you who already have some experience in creating infographics and prefer using their own images rather than pre-set templates. As it doesn’t target the beginner, it lacks a good tutorial and just throws you into the process. Uploading and placing various image and text files is made really simple with this tool. Easel.ly has no hidden features which you have to pay for whatsoever, being absolutely free.

4) Infogr.am

If you’re all about the data and your infographics are leaning heavily into the direction of charts, Infogr.am will probably be your favorite tool of the ones listed here. It has a built-in spreadsheet, but you can also import your XLS, XLXS and CSV files which is a huge plus. It has a huge variety of charts, but a limited choice of infographic templates. You also have to upload your own images. The basic version is free. The Pro addition will cost you $18 a month, while the White Label Option comes at a pricy $50, the most costly of the tools listed here.
