    New Delhi: Indias largest luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz India today presented a

    glimpse of its Winning products from its global portfolio for the Indian market.

    Mercedes-Benz India unveiled the much awaited dynamic SUV- the GLC; the stunningly

    attractive S-Class Cabriolet and showcased the exquisitely crafted fortress on wheels,

    the Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Guard. Both the global products which do not have a

    We chose this platform to showcase the best products from our global portfolio for our

    discerning Indian customers, partners and brand enthusiasts. We kick-started 2016 with

    the spirit of Winning and our products showcased indeed promise an exhilarating year

    ahead. We are confident that 2016 will be packed with some of the most stunning

    product introductions, novel brand showcases and other initiatives which will redefine

    the way customers experience luxury in the Indian automotive segment.

    The GLC and the S-Class Cabriolet are two of the most successful global products

    without a predecessor in India and we will be introducing them this year. With these

    introductions we will strengthen two segments which witnessed the highest growth last

    year: the SUV and the Dream Cars. While the GLCs launch will boost our SUV offering

    even further, the S-Class Cabriolets addition will bring in a new dimension to the top-

    end luxury cabriolets in India.

    Auto Expo 2016 Product Showcase:


    The highly anticipated GLC was unveiled at the Auto Expo. The GLC is a unique, sporty

    and dynamic SUV which combines the ultimate in driving comfort, with impressive on

    road and off-road capabilities. The design philosophy behind the new GLC essentially

    favours sensual purity and modern aesthetics over the classic off-road look. The

    paradigm shift in the area of design affects not only the outside appearance. The new

    design idiom combines sensual purity with dynamic sportiness and embodies a new

    interpretation of modern luxury. With a Cd value of 0.31, it sets a clear benchmark in

    this segment.

    The new GLC offers the DYNAMIC SELECT handling control system with five driving

    programs as standard. In addition to the ECO, COMFORT, SPORT, SPORT+ and

    INDIVIDUAL settings which are familiar from other models, the new all-rounder is also

  • be equipped with the Off-Road Engineering package. The nine-stage 9G-TRONIC

    automatic transmission also comes as standard for the GLC 300 4MATIC.

    S-Class Cabriolet

    The S-Class Cabriolet is the 6th variant of the current S-Class family and the first open-

    top luxury four-seater from Mercedes-Benz since 1971. The S-Class Cabriolet

    symbolizes Mercedes-Benzs passion for creating individual and timeless exclusive

    mobility for customers. The V8 engine of the S 500 Cabrio has an output of 335 kW

    (455 hp). The displacement stands at 4663 cc and the engine produces peak torque of

    700 Nm from 1800 rpm. The S-Class Cabriolet is fitted as standard with the full-support

    AIRMATIC semi-active air suspension featuring infinitely variable damping control.

    Innovative solutions such as the luggage compartment bulkhead made of aluminium

    and magnesium as well as the aluminium rear floor also lower the body shell weight to

    the level of the S-Class Coup. The S-Class Cabriolet has a host of safety features. The

    standard-fit roll-over protection system behind the rear head restraints features

    pyrotechnic initiation of the actuators for the first time, in addition to which the roll bars

    themselves are moved into position by a gas generator. The multilayer, taut soft top

    underscores the vehicle's class when closed. The switch in the centre console can be

    used to open and close the soft top while on the move up to a speed of 60 km/h.

    Opening and closing take around 20 seconds.

    Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Guard: Highest level of comfort and protection

    The Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Guard combines a host of superlatives. As a special-

    protection vehicle, the perfection and exclusivity of the S-Class and the modern luxury

    of Maybach, meet the highest standards creating a room for invincible personal safety.

    In the most critical scenarios with amounts of explosives that are far higher than those

    in standard tests, even with HG85 in the area of the roof and floor, the Mercedes-

    Maybach S 600 Guard remains on the ground and offers the best possible resistance. It

    is also resistant to blasts from the side with explosive fragmentation charges. Even

    under fire, the vehicle with the highest possible rating for protection against ballistics,

  • VR9, shows no weakness and offers the best-possible protection even against threats

    from the Dragunov sniper rifle.

    The exterior of Mercedes-Maybach S 600 exudes prestigious exclusivity at the first

    glance. Choice of exclusive materials, a lavish scope of equipment and a host of

    customisation options ensures the interiors of this sedan meet the highest standards of

    the most demanding customers all over the world. The concept of complete protection

    has been further advanced and a host of protective components has already been

    integrated, as a comprehensive system in the vehicle development and body shell

    construction phases. The continuous underbody armour under the entire passenger

    compartment is part of the specification of this vehicle as well a unique selling

    proposition of the Mercedes-Benz Guard vehicles. The early integration of the protective

    components means that the appearance of the Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Guard

    remains virtually unchanged inside and out. There are no compromises on the
