OPEN FOR PLEASURE.An SLK wastes no time getting down to the business of driving enjoyment. In less than

20 seconds, its retractable hardtop — which comes in three varieties — whisks into the

trunk. Its three advanced Direct Injection engines — turbo-4, V-6 or AMG V-8 — respond

even more quickly. In a mere millisecond, they can tune their high-pressure fuel spray

with near -molecular precision, while rapid -multispark ignition fires up to four times in

sequence. Three slick- shifting transmissions — a 6-speed manual with the turbo-4, and

two types of paddle -shifted 7-speed automatic — let you turn every rev into a revelation,

to wield more torque with less fuel and fewer emissions. As soon as you open up an SLK,

you can instantly feel the three of you — driver, car and road — becoming one.

Close-ratio. For instant response at any rpm, both the short-throw 6-speed manual gearbox in the SLK 250 and the driver -adaptive 7-speed automatic offer a broad range of ideally spaced gearing. Along with ECO and Sport modes, a true Manual mode and paddle shifters let you shift the 7- speed without taking a hand from the thick 3 -spoke steering wheel.

First-rate. For more rewarding response from its speed-sensing power steering, the innovative Direct- steer system varies the steering ratio based on how far you turn the wheel. It quickens response in corners, yet offers precise on-center feel, inspiring straight - line stability at higher speeds, and easier steering effort during lower- speed maneuvers.

Performance -rated. For more tenacious grip under acceleration without sacrificing crisp steering feedback, the rear wheels and tires of every SLK are a full inch wider than the fronts. In addition to the standard wheels, there are numerous optional 18" designs — including race-bred AMG wheels for the SLK 250 and SLK 350 as part of the Sport Package.3

SLK 250. A 201-hp 1.8 - liter turbo-4 teams up with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or paddle-shifted 7-speed automatic to deliver 60 mph in a brisk 6.5 seconds,1 along with equally refreshing efficiency of up to 33 mpg highway.2 Staggered-width 17" 5 -spoke alloy wheels and tires team up with a nimble sport- tuned suspension.

SLK 350. An invigorating 302-hp V-6 is paired with a 7-speed automatic with paddle shifters and 18" 5-spoke wheels.3 With a new ECO Start/Stop system, it can reach 60 in 5.4 seconds1 or return up to 29 highway mpg.2

SLK 55 AMG. A handcrafted 5.5- liter AMG V-8 wields 415 hp with the finesse of a 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT transmission. AMG Cylinder Management and ECO Start/Stop can deactivate four or eight cylinders whenever they’re not needed, for up to 28 highway mpg.2 Torque Vectoring Brake and 18" AMG wheels3 dig into corners.

Or pacing Formula 1™ in one of the many AMG models that have served as its

official Safety Car since 1996. Achieving any one of these would no doubt prove

inspiring. Accomplishing them all — that’s inspirational. True to its rich sporting

heritage, the 2013 SLK invokes its racing soul while evoking new passion for the

road ahead. Its iconic Star-and-crossblade grille, powerful hood and muscular

fenders blend classic roadster proportions with superior aerodynamics and a

supremely confident stance. And like the gullwing doors of the famed 300 SL,

the SLK has a signature of its own: its trendsetting folding roof, also available

with a tinted transparent panel or electronically variable tinted glass — a first

for a retractable hardtop. At the touch of a button, the glass roof turns clear

and every star in the sky becomes yours. But no matter how you configure your

SLK, every Star that’s ever crossed a finish line will be shining on you as well.

Acrobatic. A perpetual highlight of the SLK is watching its power-operated hardtop somersault into the trunk in under 20 seconds. The heated rear window pivots as the car transforms from sleek coupe to open-air roadster. This allows it to “nest” with the trunklid, leaving more than 60% of the 10-cubic-foot luggage space available when you’re traveling with the top down. And with the Premium 1 Package (standard on the SLK 350 and SLK 55 AMG), you can even operate the roof from outside the car, via the SmartKey remote.

Scenic. With a see-through panel of UV-blocking, high-strength tinted polycarbonate, the Panorama roof option offers a view of the sky as you enjoy the comfort of a closed coupe. It power-folds into the trunk just as compactly as the standard roof.

Magic. A Mercedes -Benz exclusive, optional MAGIC SKY CONTROL is an innovative evolution of the Panorama roof concept. When electrical current is applied, particles within the glass panel line up, allowing light to pass. Switch it off and the particles scatter randomly, blocking light. In its darkened state, the thermal energy entering the cabin on a sunny day is less than that of a household light bulb. And even in the transparent setting, the glass effectively blocks both UV and infrared rays, helping to keep the cabin cooler.

Athletic. The Sport Package adds further muscle to the SLK 250 and SLK 350. Along with 18" AMG wheels,3 this option adds an aggressive front air dam with bold mesh air intakes, chiseled side sills and rear valance, as well as darkened headlamps.

Look at the list of safety features in most any car today, and you’ll see the history of Mercedes -Benz. That’s because our engineers

have been leading the way in safety for more than 60 years, with the first crumple zone among many thousands of patents. Over the

decades, they’ve pioneered a portfolio of safety breakthroughs that went on to become industry standards — like the Antilock Braking

System (ABS), Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) and emergency-sensing Brake Assist. The engineering depth of the 2013 SLK-Class

not only helps it to perform better in a collision, it helps it perform better, period. Its exceptionally rigid body is welded from stronger,

lighter materials like ultra-high -strength steel, aluminum and magnesium. Its brakes intelligently respond to how the driver uses the

throttle and the windshield wipers. It watches for signs of driver drowsiness. And its advanced restraint systems and dual roll bars are

designed to keep their guard up even when the top is down. In situations where every second matters, so does every safety first.

OBSERVE

ATTENTION ASSIST. By continually monitoring a variety of driving behaviors, this Mercedes-Benz innovation can audibly and visually alert the driver if it detects signs of drowsiness on long trips. More than 70 variables are measured in the first minutes of each drive, to establish a pattern and determine the warning thresholds accordingly.4

LED lighting. Brilliant white LED Daytime Running Lamps and LED taillamps help make your presence and your actions more immediately apparent to other drivers on the road. For the brake lamps, the light -emitting diodes illuminate more rapidly than conventional bulbs — a benefit that can offer added reaction time to a driver behind your SLK.

Bi-Xenon headlamps. With the available Lighting Package, Bi-Xenon headlamps generate light that’s perceived more like natural daylight than with halogen lamps. Active Curve Illumination swivels their beams as you turn the steering wheel, to improve illumination into corners up to 90% over fixed lamps. New for 2013, Adaptive Highbeam Assist continually varies the beams of the Bi-Xenon lamps to put the most light on the road ahead without causing glare for other drivers. The package also includes headlamp washers, to help keep the lamps cleaner in poor weather.

SUPPORT

Adaptive braking. The 4 -wheel disc brakes incorporate technology to help make driving more reassuring and relaxing in a variety of situations. If the driver lifts off the accelerator quickly, Predictive Brake Priming sets the pads closer to the discs for quicker response when the driver steps on the brakes. In the rain, Automatic Brake Drying periodically applies the brakes just enough to sweep away water buildup on the discs. During uphill starts, Hill -Start Assist helps prevent unwanted rollback. And a HOLD feature can help make driving in stop-and-go traffic less stressful.5

Dual roll bars. While the brushed aluminum trim of the signature dual roll bars makes a strong style statement, what lies beneath speaks most eloquently in the unlikely event of a rollover. Micro-alloy tubular steel is fiber-reinforced for added strength, and affixed to a rigid rear bulkhead.6

Body structure. Mercedes -Benz bodies have long been renowned as benchmarks of rigidity and advanced crash management. The SLK-Class carries these lofty standards forward without the burden of excessive weight. Advanced materials are widely used, including high-strength and ultra-high-strength steel for critical reinforcements, magnesium for the hardtop frame, and aluminum for the front fenders and the hood.

PROTECT

Eight air bags. A suite of standard air bags offers advanced protection.7 Driver and passenger knee air bags supplement the dual -stage front air bags. Dual torso-level side- impact air bags are each complemented by head- level air bags that are designed to offer protection even when the power hardtop and side windows are fully retracted.

Seat belts and head restraints. Still perhaps the most important safety feature in any car, the 3-point seat belts in every SLK feature Emergency Tensioning Devices (ETDs) to help remove some slack from the belts in a collision exceeding a preset threshold. Belt-force limiters help reduce the peak loads on a belted occupant during an impact. And NECK-PRO active head restraints instantly move upward and slightly forward in certain rear impacts, to help prevent or minimize whiplash- type injuries.

Post-collision response. If an air bag or ETD deploys, the standard Mercedes -Benz mbrace2™ system’s Automatic Collision Notification can initiate a call to our 24-hour emergency response center — even if you cannot.8 After a collision, the SLK can also automatically shut off its engine and fuel supply, unlock its doors, switch on the hazard flashers, and illuminate some interior lights.

As fashionable as Mercedes-Benz sports cars have always been, their functional

virtues are why their instant appeal grows with every mile. Deeply contoured twin

power seats hold you close, while the spacious cockpit sets you free to enjoy its

advanced luxuries and wind-taming innovations. The console’s intuitive central

controller unifies an abundance of useful, user- friendly technology — including the

new in-car Internet features available with the Mercedes-Benz mbrace2™ system.8

Cabin air is filtered for dust and pollen before it flows from classic round vents.

Wrapped in Premium leather, the flat -bottom multifunction sport steering wheel

puts numerous features, including hands- free Bluetooth® with audio streaming,9 as

close as your thumbs. And the available AIRSCARF neck- level heating system can

turn a chilly evening or autumn day into perfect top-down driving weather.

OUTFITTED

Ensconcing. The heated10 8-way power sport seats are equipped with 4-way power lumbar and a 3-position memory that includes the driver’s settings for the steering column and side mirrors. Both mirrors are also heated and power- folding. The SmartKey remote can lock the cabin storage compartments, or operate the hardtop10 from outside. Optional KEYLESS-GO lets you unlock and drive your SLK with the key in your pocket.

Enchanting. Sleek aluminum trim highlights the controls, instruments, air vents and dual roll bars, as well as the center console and doors. Stylish options include dramatic Black Ash wood for the console and doors, or a Trim Package with warm Burl Walnut wood further extending to the steering wheel and gearshift. The seats and door armrests are impeccably double -stitched with contrasting thread. Rich leather10 or supple Premium leather11 upholstery is hand-fitted and specially treated to help fend off heat and sun damage. And as part of the optional Sport Package, Solar Red direct ambient lighting11 outlines the console and doors.

Embracing. Innovative comforts transcend the seasons. With AIRSCARF,10 warmed air emanates from beneath each head restraint, with three heat settings and speed-sensing airflow. A rigid mesh wind deflector snaps in between the roll bars, or you can opt for AIRGUIDE — a pair of transparent windstops that manually pivot from each roll bar.

Encompassing. The central controller and 5.8" color-LCD screen12 unite a world of entertainment, navigation, and personalized vehicle settings. The standard audio gear includes USB and AUX inputs and HD Radio™ stations. The Premium 1 Package10 adds SiriusXM Radio with 6 months of service,13 an iPod®/MP3 Media Interface,14 and 500 watts of harman/kardon LOGIC7® surround sound. And the Multimedia Package adds a 6-disc DVD/CD player and SD card reader, plus navigation15 with a fast 80GB hard drive (including a 10GB Music Register for your digital music), a 7" screen with 3D maps, SiriusXM Traffic and Weather, and Enhanced Voice Control that lets you operate these features with your normal speaking voice.

The heart of an SLK 55 AMG Roadster is its engine — a work of modern art crafted by the hands of its own master engine builder, and crowned by a plaque bearing his signature.

The soul of AMG traces to an old German mill in 1967, where two former Mercedes-Benz engineers set out to handcraft champion racecars. Success on the track inspired them

to apply their unique performance pedigree to streetgoing Mercedes-Benz models. More than 45 years later, virtually every facet of design and development — from transmissions,

The SLK 55 AMG Roadster. Chrome hood fins. A set of six chrome fins adds a classic styling detail to the vents in the hood, offering timeless appeal with enduring quality.

Becker® MAP PILOT navigation system. For models equipped with the standard radio and 5.8" in-dash color-LCD screen, this innovative new accessory adds an advanced GPS navigation system that fully integrates with the in-dash screen and the multifunction display in the instrument cluster, as well as the console-mounted central controller and steering wheel controls. You can also program destinations using your voice. The system also provides lifetime traffic information and optimal lane recommendations, and can display highway signs such as exit ramps.
