During

All of the way from start to end of making my music magazine was filled with new skills and challenging bit of technology.

I was introduced to new pieces of software and old pieces that I had forgotten how to use.

All of these features ensured that I was creating media rich content that looked professional.

Computers

I am no stranger to computers but apple Mac's… definitely. It was difficult learning a new format and quick keys but within a week or two of using it, it became easier and easier to use. Compared to my HP All-in-one, I find Apple computers to be a lot easier and less distracting to use. It made it a lot easier for me to access new and old websites that would aid me in my quest to complete my music magazine. I wouldn’t use an Apple computer at home just because I tend to find I am limited in my resources but I could fully understand why someone would choose an Apple product over a HP product.

Blogger

When we were first told to make a blog, I instantly thought that we would be using Tumblr which I was used to and knew inside out. But, we started using a website called blogger which turned out to be a lot easier to use and to organise compared to other blogs such as tumblr or word press. The easy formats quickly changed how I worked and allowed create posts more efficiently and effectively. Drafts are one of the key features that I love about blogger because it allows me to complete the task at another time without messing up the code (like tumblr).

Photoshop

I was first introduced to Photoshop when I was a photographer at Venerable Bede but after months of not using it, I didn’t remember a slight detail. With time, however, I quickly developed more skills than I ever thought that I could have. I initially started Media thinking I could create my magazine using Microsoft Word. I was wrong. Photoshop allowed me to easily create and manipulate different features through the entirety of my magazine making process.

When I began using Photoshop, I decided to buy it along with the rest of the Adobe package which introduced me to after effects for my video editing skills.

Nikon D3200

All of my photos were taken with a Nikon D3200 which is my first and last DSLR camera. I used a mix between the kit lens (18-55) and a Sigma Macro Lens (70-300). I already knew how to use and set up my camera so it was a walk in the park for this section.

Prezi and Slide share

Prezi and slide share allowed me to create mind-map like slides that I could put onto the internet without a giant hyperlink. Both are easy to embed onto blogger and made my life and work a lot easier whilst creating my magazine.

DaFont

DaFont is a website to find multiple fonts without the risk of a virus. I used two fonts from this website through the entire magazine making process which were Bad Coma and Nervous. The preset fonts already on the computer were not cutting it for me especially as I want a more of a rock vibe to my fonts. The only time I didn’t use these two fonts were for when it was just simple text. When I wasn’t using those two, I was using Arial which is said to make it easier for dyslexic people to read.
