• An American film production company founded by Robert Shaye in 1967, which then later became an independent film studio. Subsidary of Warner Bros.

• Thriller films produced by New Line Cinema; - Alone in the dark (1982)- Order of death (1983)- A nightmare on Elm Street (1984)- Seven (1995)• This is the production company logo – using a black background with a

dark blue shadow effect which emphasises the logo of a black film roll image and the production title in bold white font – an effective logo because it is simple but stands out.

Screen Gems• An American film production company – a division

of Sony Pictures Entertainment and Columbia Pictures. Originally founded in 1940 as an animation studio, in 1948 as a television subsidiary and in 1999 as a film studio.

• Thriller films produced by Screen Gems;- Scarecrow (2014)- Deliver Us From Evil (2014)- The Exorcism Of Emily Rose (2005)- Boogeyman (2005)

• Screen Gems use a black background to emphasise the contrast of the colour against the dark – they use a simple symbol and red bold font which could be a convention of thrillers because the red may connote death or danger, thus making the company logo effective in thriller films.

Metro Goldwyn Mayer• Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Inc. is an American

company, involved primarily in the production and distribution of films, and is one of the biggest film studios in America today founded in 1924 by Marcus Loew.

• The logo for this production company is considerably different to the other production company logos because it is a trademark company and one of the largest American production and distribution companies.

Hammer• Hammer Films/Hammer Pictures is a British film

production company based in London. Founded in 1934, the company is best known for a series of Gothic "Hammer Horror" films.

• Thriller films produced by Hammer;- The Quiet Ones (2014)- X The Unknown (1956)- The Woman In Black (2012)• Hammer Films production company logo is simply the title of the company

in bold red font, reflected underneath onto the pure black background – the use of red is again significant in connoting a conventional thriller film, and although the logo doesn’t include any image it is still effective in that it is a solid font and stands out.
