The story of Bouazizi and the protests and clashes which followed his self-immolation were initially largely overlooked by international media.Much of the news emerging from Tunisia was on Twitter and in French and Arabic

We hacked a new use for an app called curated.by

Allowed users to curate tweets and add them to “bundles”

Curation could be done as an individual or collaboratively as part of a team

Needed a simple way to indicate a tweet was a translation so we used: #AREN (later #Ar2En) & #ENAR (later #En2Ar)

This let people know we were translating AND created a useful feed of translated content (as a #hashtag)
