1. With us and in us…

“…the Spirit of truth whom

the world cannot receive,

because it does not see Him

or know Him; but you know Him;

for He dwells with you,

and shall be in you.”

(John 14:17)

John 20:21-22

Then said Jesus to them again,

“Peace be unto you: as my Father

has sent me, even so send I you.”

And when He had said this, He

breathed on them, and said to them,

“Receive the Holy Spirit.”

1 Cor. 3:16

“Do you not know that you are

the temple of God,

and that the Spirit of God

dwells in you?”

2. Upon…

“But you shall receive power,

after the Holy Spirit has

come upon you,

and you shall be my witnesses…”

(See Acts 1:6-8a)

The “upon” experience

And, behold, I send the promise

of my Father upon you;

but remain in the city of Jerusalem,

until you are clothed with

power from on high.

(Luke 24:49)

Fallen upon - Acts 8:14-17

…prayed for them that they

might receive the Holy Spirit.

For as yet He had fallen upon none

of them. They had only been baptized

in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Then they laid hands on them,

and they received the Holy Spirit.

in other tongues?

Words given by the Spirit

the Holy Spirit, and began to

speak with other tongues,

as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

(Acts 2:4)

“For if I pray in a tongue,

my spirit prays,

but my understanding

is unfruitful.”

(1 Cor. 14:14)

C. What is the value of

Steps to receiving

1. Realize that God wants you to receive the Holy Spirit

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your heavenly

Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him? (Luke 11:11-13)

My qualifications (John 7:38-39)

“He that believes on me,

as the scripture has said,

out of his innermost being shall flow

rivers of living water.”

But he spoke this of the Spirit,

which those who believed

on him would receive…

That Promise includes me!

For the promise is to you,

and to your children,

and to all who are afar off,

even as many as

the Lord our God shall call.

(Acts 2:39)
