DESCRIPTION

This presentation was used to explain to the students at Lifeline the reason behind our celebration of Eid-ul-Adha. We feel the best way to connect children to Allah SWT is to quote to them the Qur'anic text. As they are doing Hifz they will realize that key to our deen is based on the Qur'an. Parents can download and share this with them. In fact ask them to explain the presentation to you! May Allah SWT accept from all of us. Aameen.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Kind the Especially Merciful

Hajj

Hajj

•Hajj falls in the month Dhul Hijjah•Dhul Hijja is the 12th month of the Islamic

lunar calendar•Whoever does Hajj becomes cleansed of

all past sins. •Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated on 10th of Dhul

Hijjah and offer sacrifice (Qurbani)

Ibrahim Ibrahim is given title of “Khaleelullah”

– A friend of Allah.In the Qur’an Allah says:

“And who is better in religion than one who submits himself to Allah while being a doer of good and follows the religion of Ibrahim, inclining toward

truth? And Allah took Ibrahim as an intimate friend.”(An-Nissa (The Women): 125)

•Ibrahim ‘s repeatedly tested by Allah at different times and he passed every test with flying colors. He accepted all commands and sacrificed for Allah .And so as a result of passing all these tests, Allah rewards him by making him a leader of the people as stated in the ayah.

Why did Allah choose him as a friend?

Ibrahim is made a Leader

“And [mention, O Muhammad], when Ibrahim was tried by his Lord with

commands and he fulfilled them. [ Allah ] said, "Indeed, I will make you a leader for

the people." ”[Surah Al-Baqarah (The Cow): 124]

Story of Bibi Hajrah

•Ibrahim was blessed with a son, Ismail .

• Ismail as just a baby when Allah commanded Ibrahim to take his wife and son to the desert of Arabia (which is Makkah now), and leave them there.

•He left a jug of water with them. There wasn’t any other person around.

Story of Bibi Hajrah

•Bibi Hajrah asked her husband where he was going and why he was leaving them behind in that place. He did not answer as he was told to not answer.

•Then Bibi Hajrah asked Ibrahim , “Did Allah command you to do this?” He replied, “Yes.” She did not question him any more and said if Allah has commanded He will take care of us.

• She stayed there with Ismail . The jug of water finished. The baby started crying until finally she set out looking for water. She saw the mountains of Safaa and Marwa and went there to see if she could find water.

• She did this 7 times. This is known as Sae’ee. Every time she reached one mountain she would climb up to see Ismail .She saw nothing, no water and no human.

Ibrahim made a du’a as he left Makkah.

“Our Lord, I have settled some of my descendants in an uncultivated valley near Your sacred House, our

Lord, that they may establish prayer. So make hearts among the people incline toward them and provide

for them from the fruits that they might be grateful.”(Surah Ibrahim :37)

Du’a during Sa’ee

“Indeed, as-Safa and al-Marwah are among the symbols of Allah . So whoever makes Hajj to the House or performs 'umrah - there is no blame

upon him for walking between them. And whoever volunteers good - then indeed, Allah is

appreciative and Knowing.”(Surah Al-Baqarah (The Cow): 158)

• Allah is indeed Merciful. When Bibi Hajrah returned to Ismail , she found a spring of water gushing beneath the feet of her son. Allah

had ordered it to gush. The words that came out of her mouth were, “Zam Zam.” (Stop, Stop).

• The spring came to be known as the well of Zam Zam.

• A tribe passing by asked to share and settled there.

Ibrahim comes back. Kaaba is built.

•Allah had now ordered him to build His house and directed them to the site where the construction would be done.

• Both Ibrahim and Ismail(Alaihummussalaam) began building the Kaaba.

“And [mention] when Ibrahim was raising the foundations of the House and [with him] Ismail,

[saying], "Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed You are the Hearing, the Knowing.”Surah Al-Baqarah (The Cow):127

Du’a of the two Prophets while they built the Kaaba

Another Du’a Of Ibrahim

“And [mention] when Ibrahim said, "My Lord, make this a secure city and provide its people with fruits - whoever of them believes in Allah and the Last Day." [ Allah ] said. "And whoever disbelieves - I will grant him enjoyment for a

little; then I will force him to the punishment of the Fire, and wretched is the destination.”

(Surah Al-Baqarah (The Cow) :126)

Kaaba

•Kaaba is also known as Haram•Another two names are Bait-ul-Ateeq and

Bait-ul-Haram

Importance of Making Du’a

•We learn the importance of making du’a and especially when we do a good deed, we have to pray for its acceptance.

Maqam-e-IbrahimWhile they were constructing the Kaaba, Ismail , would bring the stones to his father, who would place them in the right place. They had raised the walls of the Kaaba, Ismail got a stone on which Ibrahim , stood to raise the walls even more. This stone still has his footprints on it.

Praying two Rakah Nafil Salah here after performing Tawaaf around Kaaba has great reward.

Maqam-e-Ibrahim – means place where Ibrahim stood.

“And [mention] when We made the House a place of return for the people and [a place of]

security. And take, [O believers], from the standing place of Abraham a place of prayer. And We charged Ibrahim and Ismail, [saying], "Purify

My House for those who perform Tawaf and those who are staying [there] for worship and

those who bow and prostrate [in prayer].“Al-Baqarah (The Cow):125”

Hajr-e-Aswad – The Black Stone•It is stone of Jannah•The Hajr e Aswad was sparkling because of its pure whiteness, and it enlightened the north, south, east and west. People’s sin have turned it black. •Tawaaf begins from here. •Rasul Allah would kiss and cry over this stone.

Allah commands call for Hajj• When the Kaaba is completed, Ibrahim

is ordered to call people for Hajj. But there is no one there!

• Ibrahim pleaded, "O Allah, how shall my voice reach all humankind?" Almighty Allah told him that his duty was only to make the call and that it was up to Allah to make it heard by people. Ibrahim then climbed Mount `Arafat and, as loud as he could, yelled, "O People, verily, Allah has prescribed Hajj for you, so perform  it."

“And proclaim to the people the Hajj [pilgrimage]; they will come to you on foot and on every lean camel; they will come from every

distant pass –”(Al-Hajj:27)

Allah says in the Qur’an:

Hajj•One of 5 pillars of Islam•Reward of doing Hajj: "Whoever performs

Hajj and does not commit any obscenity or transgression shall return [free from sins] as he was on the day his mother gave birth to him." (Al-Bukhari)

•Has to be carried out once in a lifetime if conditions allow.

•Rituals of Hajj begin on 8th Dhul Hijjah

Map during Hajj

Days of Hajj

Ihraam for Men

Haaji at Arafaat

•There are no days greater in the sight of Allah (including Ramadan) in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Him than these 10 days so during these days”

•Recite Tahleel: La ilaha ill Allah•Recite Takbeer: Allahu Akbar•Recite Tahmeed: Alhumdulillah(Ahmad)

Sacrifice of Ibrahim and Ismail (AS)•Ibrahim as blessed with both of his

sons in his old age. Ismail was his elder son.

•When Ismail grew up to be a young man, Ibrahim saw a dream for three nights. He finally realized that Allah was commanding him to sacrifice his son.

“And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, "O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think." He said, "O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find

me, if Allah wills, of the steadfast.”(Surah As-Saffat (Those Who Set the Ranks): 102)

• And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead,• We called to him, "O Ibrahim,

• You have fulfilled the vision." Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.

(Surah As-Saffat (Those Who Set the Ranks): 103-105)

• Indeed, this was the clear trial.• And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice,

• And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:

(Surah As-Saffat (Those Who Set the Ranks): 106-108)

Learning

•We learn how obedient Ismail was as a son. No argument with his father, no questioning, but just acceptance of what was ordered to him.

May Allah accept. Aameen.
