- 2. QUALITY AND OUTCOME Healthcare organizations must have a
planned and systematic approach for meeting the quality
expectations of its stakeholders. To insure the efficiency of the
application an internal analysis (how the application has affected
the business within) and external analysis (how it has affected its
consumers and the surrounding environment) will need to be
conducted. This too can be effectively used to identify
organizational needs. This will enable Acme to compare its current
data (the statistics of health care in Indiana without the
application) to its ideal data. By doing so we are enabling Acme to
assess discrete, patient-focused endpoints. However, in some cases,
results can be influenced by factors out of the providers
control.
- 3. SWOT ANALYSIS The internal and external environment is
forever evolving. Acme is well capable of building upon its
strengths resulting from years of development and information
system investments to react to market opportunities and threats,
and to improve our minor areas of weaknesses.
- 4. INTERNAL & EXTERNAL ANALYSIS STRENGTHS Electronic Health
Record Biomedical Informatics and resources Ancillary systems
foundation Data Storage High computing capacity Which all
contribute to our increasing quality of care WEAKNESSES Use of EMR
as a clinical education tool can lead to physician/patient barrier
Non-stop patient-centered care across the board(application adapts
more to the consumers (or patients) rather than the business which
requires more attention to detail and necessary changes at all
times Lack of referring physician access which can easily become an
inconvenience and challenge
- 5. INTERNAL & EXTERNAL ANALYSIS OPPORTUNITIES EHR
incentives Medication management Grants and Awards Positive
clinical outcome appeal THREATS Disaster recovery readiness with
respect to patient privacy and data sharing Patient Protection and
Affordable Care Act of 2010 (PPAC) Failure to drive the culture
change needed for success due to resistance to change Economics:
Competition for scarce, efficient & effective IT resources
Economic status/ limited funding Market & Finance
- 6. APPLICATION RELIABILITY Ensure consistent results An
important ingredient of quality The probability that a system will
perform properly over a defined time span Many healthcare processes
fall into the unreliable category. ACCURACY The accuracy of a
measurement system is the degree of closeness of measurements of a
quantity to that quantity's actual (true) value. PERFORMANCE
Monitoring Enables Improved Electronic Patient Care
