What we are going to learn

• Text

• How to read and to write text types (genres)

Text is a unit of meaning

Text can be spoken or written

(a telephone conversation, a speech, a letter, a diary an assignment, a report)

Text can be short (one like “Entry”)

and can be long (like a novel or a book).

• One page of a novel cannot be called a text because it does not give the reader a complete meaning.

• Identify the topic.• Find the most general sentence.• Study the rest of the paragraph.
