3/ Understanding of Island School

Learning Environment/ Community/

Learning Environment/ Openness/

Presenter
BT-Also the existing IS campus had fully utilized the green site on the mid levels. The Block 5 Courtyard- is the centre of every communal spaces. We appreciate this IS campus because it provided a sequence and hierarchy of social spaces, not just one single basketball court [like any standard Y2K school] Slightly level differences between the spaces, some trees to separate the spaces…. All are good methods to encourage and invite students to use the spaces.

Learning Environment/ Green/

Presenter
Urbis- explain about the existing vegetation on site, major 4 areas: NE along borrett road Near swimming pool/ entrance Inside Block 5 courtyard Along SW slope. Explain the trees, if not really valuable can fell and plant new trees [don’t seem to be too ‘concerned’ to preserve the trees], we want the trees to enhance the campus environment, doesn’t really necessarily preserve and make us difficult.

BH/ BT- The Podium. Podium is at the level of entrance/ and deck over some big function spaces, such as Auditorium/ Theatre/ Sports Hall/ Swimming Pool Advantage: good MOE/ entry to these functional spaces directly to/from the street. forming a nice ‘street’ which walks along the slope giving a lot of seating/ gathering spaces
