“To al l that come to this happy place : welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age rel ives fond memories of the past ,

and here youth may savor the chal lenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals , the dreams, and

the hard facts that have created America . . . with hope that is wi l l be a source of joy and inspiration to al l the world .”

Walt Disney

Walt Disney World has been the choice vacation for my family for the past 15 years . Every other summer since 1998,

my entire mom’s side of the family ( 12 people) would drive to Disney World . Nearly al l of my fondest memories were made

during those tr ips . One tr ip specif ical ly stands out for me though. In 2006, the family decided to change things up a

bit , and planned a Christmas Disney vacation, instead of the usual summer vacation. The adults planned the tr ip months

in advance, per usual . Litt le did we know that in August my Pap-Pap would have an accident at work and as a result ,

would pass away. In memory of him, my family did what he would have wanted us to do, and we went on the tr ip . It was

an extremely emotional experience, but one that none of us regret .

Seven years later , and I f inal ly got to do what no one else in my family has done, yet . I went to Disneyland, in Anaheim, Cal ifornia . It is a tr ip my family has never made, because it

is so expensive with such a large family . Disneyland was al l that I had hoped it would be, a lthough much smaller than

its Flor ida counterpart . As corny as it may seem, Disney has, and wil l continue to be an influence in my l ife . It is not

something that wi l l be disappearing any time soon.

“Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very

long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we’re

curious, and curiousity keeps leading us down new paths.”
