B uilt between 1875 and 1914 on the
"hill of martyrs" (Montmartre) which
was the place where Saint Denis, the first bishop
of Paris, was decapitated for his faith, the Basili-
ca was consecrated in 1919.
C onsecrated to the Heart of Christ, rev-
elation of the love of God for man-
kind, the Sacred Heart Basilica in Montmartre is
a unique place in the world of perpetual Eucha-
ristic adoration, night and day, for more than 125
years. (1st of August 1885)
T his makes the Basilica shine out as a
sign of hope. When a visitor sees the
dome of the Basilica, he says to himself: “Up
there, the Lord is present. Up there, somebody is
praying for me.”
THE SACRED HEART BASILICA
IN MONTMARTRE
Lord,
who wished to stay present among us
through Your Holy Eucharist,
the mystery of your love,
we unite ourselves to all those
who come to adore You
in spirit and in truth.
Praying day and night, we would like
to offer our presence to Your Presence.
Allow us to listen to You in silence,
as You wish to reveal Yourself
to us in the secret of our hearts.
Help us to abandon ourselves to You:
may the praise and supplication,
and the confident gift of our lives
raise up from our hearts.
May Your Sacred Heart, source of all mercy,
establish our hearts in peace and inner joy.
May it strengthen our faith, renew our love,
and sustain our hope. Amen.
Anyone can come to take part
in this mission of adoration.
Come...
The Lord awaits you!
