Origin of STPI

To Promote Software Exports from the country, Govt. of India decided

to:

• Establish Software Technology Parks (STPI) at various locations

across the country.

• Create infrastructure facilities such as high speed data

communication facilities.

• Established in 1991, as an autonomous society under Department

of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), Ministry of

Communications and Information Technology, Government of

“To create a balanced ecosystem that nurtures and supports high value Startups” was the goal behind the creation of incubation centers.

• High Infrastructure costs and lack of working capital funds are some of the

main hindrances for start ups.

• ‘Incubation facility ’ is promoted by STPI and state governments and is

supported by the industry association viz., TiE, Indian Electronics

Semiconductor Association, Academia and the Venture Capitalist.

• The aim is to nurture and handhold the young and emerging entrepreneurs in

their new ventures and innovations.
