AASHTOWare Communication

Adequacy of AASHTOWare organization product

capability communications … comments

• Capabilities are communicated to known contacts;

however, information is not distributed lower in the

organization.

• AASHTO does a good job, but the news has to be heard

by the recipients.

• Communication has been focused on business areas

rather than the IT areas of the agencies. Many of the

products require a lot of behind the scenes IT

configuration to get them to work in our environment.

AASHTOWare Communication

Adequacy of AASHTOWare organization product

capability communications … comments

• Product training, solicitation, and functionality are

lacking

• Communication is inadequate. Most DOT employees

are not aware of the AASHTOWare rebranding effort

that took place 2 years ago and still refer to the software

using their old names.

From an IT organization perspective, specific areas

that should be improved in AASHTOWare product

delivery

2013 2014

• Improved quality and testing (6) (7)

• Speed to market (6) (7)

• Mobile development (4) (2)

• Reduce licensing fee (1) (1)

• Configurable (2)

Additional information or comments on the survey

• Many states have in-house non-AASHTOWare applications

for engineering functions that could be shared. AASHTO

could serve as a catalog source and clearing house for

states to exchange or provide applications to one another.

• Reduce the number of questions on the survey to secure

more timely responses and also a larger number of

responses. If there is a desire to continue to use all these

questions, consider asking half of the questions one

year and the other half the following year.
