What is a Competency Model?

.

An effective competency model defines the characteristics necessary for

success and indicators that can be used to assess if an individual actually displays that competency on the job.

Competency: A combination of skills, and knowledge needed to perform a

specific role and the key behaviours and abilities that contribute to strong

performance in that role.

Performance Competency: Performance of skills, abilities, knowledge and

behaviours to the standards set for job proficiency

Competency Model: Describes the knowledge, skills, abilities and other

personal characteristics required for a person to be successful in a job

and to perform that job effectively
